Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. I won't lament to you anymore about how I used to have more TIME to put shows together, since I've whined about that at length and, after all, who does have any time these days?! I enjoy interviewing people, but it is a bit of a daunting prospect each week. WHen I imagine doing it, it always sounds fun, but actually venturing out there into the masses with my little microcassette recorder is often more difficult than it seems. It takes a good deal of psychic energy to foist myself out there and into peoples faces in a way that they won't tell me to F-off or reject me outright. Last week I was talking to volunteer Samantha at the station and she alluded to a show from a few weeks back. Perhaps you remember it. I was LIVE from Union Square Park with a film crew. Unfortunately, we had technical problems and Samantha played an OLD episode of Mondo Eclectica, a show I produced for WMNF in Tampa from 1998-2005ish. She mentioned how moving it was and how personal, and I got that awful feeling of thinking that I used to be so much better than I am now. Maybe I was. I do invite you to go waaaaaay back in the archives and check out early work. I'm sure that, as it is with bands and music, there is something about the "early days" that captures magic and freshness in a way that is hard to hold onto as the years roll by. The show has gone through many, many changes, though some things stay the same. It is definitely more news-oriented than it used to be and perhaps less-arty to my chagrine. I wionder sometimes if I should stop doing it, but I hope that you still enjoy the programs. Once in a while I still find some old magic. I still enjoy making programs and you know, honestly, there is never any real way to "go back" and do things like you "used to." Times and people change. The past is irretrievable. If it was accessible, a nostalgic guy like me would be lost back there, riding my stingray around in circles in some gravel parking lot, dreaming of dilly bars and electric football games. But here we are in the now ... 2014 ... and soon that will just be some old year from the past. I'm glad you're still around, whoever you are. I really am. Without you, the show has no meaning. Thank you and always remember. Clay Pigeon NYC 6/16/14 Love |

So: Clay and Kirsten met in a kind of "Neil Simon one-act romantic comedy" scenario?
Is that what you mean?
