In the kitchen with webstream and bean taco filling, so please yell above the bubbling. :)
Avatar 5:59pm ndbob:

evening Doug, James, everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Listen to the beans and stuff the taco with music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Doug Schulkind:

Bless you, ndbob!
Avatar 6:02pm Evan in NC:

As a public school teacher, I'm particularly interested in what you have in store for us tonight, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Let us pray, Evan in NC.
Avatar 6:04pm ndbob:

Anyone here besides me remember bible reading in schools in the pre_Schempp days?
Avatar 6:05pm Evan in NC:

School's out; I'm ready.
Avatar 6:06pm ndbob:

second, third, fourth grade.. Most people basically ignored it - though I did think it strange that we read from the New Testament ina school that was almost all Jewish
Avatar 6:06pm ndbob:

I did refuse to do the duck and cover type drills though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Doug Schulkind:

My public school career began five years after Schempp. I was, however, pulled up by my ear to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance by my second grade teacher, Miss Languasco.
Avatar 6:08pm ndbob:

I think I did that too

Me: "That sounds like Mario Lanza."
[checks iPod]
Me: "Yes!! All those plays of 'Drink, Drink, Drink' on the jukebox at my parents' favorite pizza place in the Bronx paid off!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Doug Schulkind:

Mario Lanza, he had some pipes, I tells ya.
6:15pm jeff g, just appy to be here:

Doug: hallow'ed be thy name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Casper the Ghost:

Halloween be thy name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Pharrell:

C'mon get 'appy, Jeff G!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Doug Schulkind:

"My parent's favorite pizza place in the Bronx" sounds like the beginning of a great short story.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:19pm listener james from westwood:

In the Catlick church I attended as a lad, we sang the Our Father to "As Tears Go By." This had the beneficial dual effect of (a) exposing kids to the Rolling Stones and (b) further outraging those still nostalgic for the Latin Mass.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:20pm listener james from westwood:

The Bronx of the early 1970s was still a target-rich environment for finding decent pizza. Not sure how it rates now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Doug Schulkind:

In Pittsburgh they sell pizza by the "cut" and not the "slice." I would rule that unconstitutional, if I could.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:27pm listener james from westwood:

It violates the 3.14159th Amendment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Doug Schulkind:

Back in Brooklyn, we usta sing The Lords of Flatbush Prayer.
Avatar 6:29pm ndbob:

Ha James:) .. It's nice to be somewhere where the only pizza places aren't Domino's and Pizza Hut
6:30pm jeff g, just appy to be here:

Death by a thousand cuts AMIRITE DOUG?

Try the veal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Doug Schulkind:

We no longer eat pizza-shop pizza. I have become quite the pie hurler here in Pittsburgh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Doug Schulkind:

And now, Mahalia's rather iconic version...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Doug Schulkind:

The version coming next? Not so iconic. Nor hallowed.
Avatar 6:33pm ndbob:

If I made a pizza an hour of The Lord's Prayer couldn't make it taste good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Doug Schulkind:

Ladies and gentlemen, I present Elvis Presley, asshole.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:39pm listener james from westwood:

@Doug: A friend, native to northern NJ, who spent 7 or 8 years in Indianapolis similarly taught himself how to spin and dress a crust amid its Italian-food desert.
Avatar 6:39pm Evan in NC:

sounds like a hog chokin' on a biscuit . .
Avatar 6:40pm Evan in NC:

the Elvis version, that is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Doug Schulkind:

But one Hell of a biscuit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Doug Schulkind:

Full disclosure: I am not actually tossing the pizza dough in the air. And I still have my dignity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Doug Schulkind:

  6:49pm Artie:

Loving this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi Artie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Doug Schulkind:

Don't be upset with me that I decided not to play the Doris Day version. It was pretty good, too.
Avatar 6:52pm ndbob:

somehow I expected to hear Brother John:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Doug Schulkind:

"He craves my face when it's ugly, man."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Doug Schulkind:

Thy will be done, ndbob.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Doug Schulkind:

I also left the Whoopi Goldberg version on the cutting room floor. No real singing from Whoopi, but she stars in the scene taken from the film version of "Sarafina."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Doug Schulkind:

The school kids sing the Lord's Prayer, while Whoopi leads them in a really dumb dance routine. Believe me, you missed nothing.
Avatar 6:58pm ndbob:

excellent show Doug!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:00pm listener james from westwood:

This show said the Lord's Prayer more than I ever did after confession, and yet I still feel saved. Thanks, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Doug Schulkind:

Amen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm The Lord's Player:

This shit is real!
Avatar 7:01pm Evan in NC:

Great show, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Doug Schulkind:

Thanks Evan and ndbob and everyone!
