A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Trouble, during this show you've 2ce mischaracterized the Hobby Lobby decision. First of all, it had nothing to do with the CHOICES of their female employees. The regul'n promulgated by HHS MANDATED coverage for routine birth control, whether the employees wanted it or not. Routine & cheap payments like BCP are a dumb thing to insure for anyway; the money you'd save in premiums could easily pay for birth control pills.

Also, the Affordable Care Act didn't mandate coverage of birth control, HHS regs did, in violation of the Religious Freedom Restor'n Act. And it's not the religious sentiments of a corporation which were at issue (that'd be silly), but the religious sentiments of its OWNERS. And don't you see a distinction between the owners investing in drug firms which produce (among other things) birth control technology, and the owners of Hobby Lobby making their employees buy birth control coverage in their health plans? It's not like Hobby Lobby was saving any money by not having to do so, because the costs of the health plans were passed on to their employees anyway.

Kurt, how they becamme health care issues is a long story, going back to the 19th C. Basically, it's been a turf battle, worthy of Mafia gangs. Doctors wrested control of the biz away from midwives.

There's more to it, but that's all I have time for in this forum.
