Thanks for playing Mulatu Astatke!![]()
♥ 9:41am :
Morning Bob, nice set. Wow, re-watched John from Cincy. Odd show, but always liked the theme. Is Luck worth seeing?10:02am : what is that first clip of music on the music behind DJ? I recognize it from an early 80's uk tv ad10:03am : How about play in' the soundtrack to The Shining next?10:26am : the ad was for "le jardin" perfume lol :)10:30am : Thanks for the trio of tunes from the 2nd Burritos lp, Bob. You picked good ones. Though this was the first album of theirs I bought, I still felt underwhelmed at the time, but have grown to appreciate it. The period was a weird one for them: As you pointed out, they had little fresh material ("Lazy Days" is cribbed from Parsons' International Submarine Band days); Parsons was involved in a sci-fi movie that was never completed (hence the band dressed in what Parsons called 'cocaine tester' suits on the cover); Parsons' drug habit and his sycophantic attachment to the Stones, in L.A. at the time, hurt the band's progress; and the general air of what Leadon called "The second winter at Valley Forge" (the band doing crummy high school gym gigs, having lost morale, they took to wearing jeans with their Nudie suit jackets from the 1st lp's cover).![]()
10:40am : THAT'S what I'm talkin' about :)10:41am : le jardin? or some other stinking perfume product
working a perfume counter must be hell!
maybe the cake layers of makeup are to protect the staff from ill effects10:44am : thank u 4 the airplane ride!10:49am : This is interesting - not the "All This Is That" I recognize from 'Carl & The Passions'...2:28pm : Hey, Bob! I was so taken with the Molina track you played I hunted it up on YouTube. Apparently, however, the track you played is the CD's title track -- "Wed 21" -- and not "Ferocisimo." Unless of course someone posted it incorrectly on YouTube? IAE, LOVE the track you played whatever its title! Thanks!
