speaking of happy mondays, did the orioles lose yesterday? i'm too lazy to look it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm
Doug Schulkind:

Why no, glenn, they didn't. After finishing above .500 on a harrowing 10-game west coaster, the O's lost only a game in the standing to the Jayankees.

I get the report on that team when I call home. Family came from the Bronx, but in my case that fandom seems to have skipped a generation.

"that team". funny.

Dad wasn't specifically NOT a Bklyn Dodgers fan; they were outta there by the time I arrived. His feelings on the Mets are not strong but not hostile.

He did have NY Giants season tix for a long time. Stopped getting them before we moved to northern NJ. He was definitely sick of them by that point, proximity of Meadowlands notwithstanding. Plus he knew one of the Maras in school and resented him.

Thanks, James! I try to hit for average...I'll "settle" for .406 even

I could've taken in a Twins game as part of a press junket to Mpls for a nurses' convention; rather sad I didn't. My tally of visited stadiums is very short. (I like the ones where a beer doesn't cost you the kidney you need to process it, which may limit me some.)
Avatar 12:24pm
glenn:

if the sac fly rule had been in effect back then, i.e., not counting as an at bat, ted would have hit something like .417.

don't come to the skydome, james. 11.25$ canadian for domestic swill.

Mike, Ken always has s spare key hidden under the Jandek storage trailer.

@Mike VL
We solved that problem here at the Drummer Stream: We removed all the doors. A bit rough when using the unisex bathroom, but we're all responsible adults here. (Well, almost all.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
listener james from westwood:

"Unscrew the locks from the doors! Unscrew the doors themselves from their jambs!"

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Doug Schulkind:

You're right, Mike. One can not not appreciate that cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Stanley:

(Excuse me Mike) - Doug, on a technical point I'm listening to the stream via MediaMonkey for the first time and I have to say the quality is impressive. Better than iTunes, which was my default player until now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Uncle Michael:

I don't think iTunes involves the standard mp3 stream. Winamp. MediaMonkeey, etc....all do. And should all sound the same. I use the mp3 stream through the Squeezebox hardware that I use and it's great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Doug Schulkind:

@Stanley
But will you let me pet your MediaMonkey?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
Stanley:

@UM I don't what I was streaming through iTunes but I like this MediaMonkey business.

@Doug - well he hasn't bitten me yet but I did get him on the internet, so be careful.

Mike VL:

@Uncle Michael: There are alternate streams for GTDR? I thought there was only the mp3 one... That could be useful when I run into bandwidth problems

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Three cheers to Mike Van Laar for a great show! The stream runs 24 hours a day, but you are allowed a few naps here and there. Just wake up in time for Tape Hiss, tomorrow, 12-3pm (ET) here on Give the Drummer Radio (pronounced RAHD-yo, just because).

Tony Coulter continues to be on vacation, but he's cued up a great old Tape Hiss show for your listening pleasure tomorrow.

Tune in tomorrow at noon here on the Drummer Stream for rare, unheard cassettes from: Volkswhale, Glorious Moodmen, Kopf/Kurz, & Metabolist.

There will be a playlist for Tony's show for all to converge and converse. It will be here: www.wfmu.org...

fred, I'm just not sure if the stream in the iTunes store is the same feed as the one linked here on the playlist. It may be. I'm not sure about TuneIn either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm
Uncle Michael:

I've got my groove good and deep today, thanks to you, Mike. Thanks!
