Arun Ramamurthy is a great
young Carnatic - South Indian - classical violinist. He adds jazz to
the mix with the Arun
Ramamurthy Trio, whose CD Jazz Carnatica hits the streets in
October. Arun joins us tonight as guest-DJ to explore Indian violin
styles. We'll preview his trio's new CD too.
Arun is performing this Wendesday, Aug 13th, 7:15 at LaMama, 74 East 4th St as part of the "Drive East" festival. Drive East is a week long music & dance “season” modeled after the famous Chennai season in December. He'll be presenting a solo Carnatic concert with mrudangist Rajna Swaminathan.
