ohh btw faye, did you happen to tune in to efds dance party last Wednesday? all I could say it was really OUTSTANDING!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Faye:

I didn't hear it! I'll have to check out the archives
  9:15pm nate:

I recently got dean wareham's book from the library the other day. a crazy person had underlined 50% of the words and made bizarre annotations throughout... also there was a photo of a cluttered bedroom closet(?) stuck in there as well.

  9:23pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

@faye I suggest you listen to the "disco" show with a friend! Just in case you get the uncontrolled urge to put on bell bottom pants and start roller skating around the house:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Faye:

I'm looking forward to it!
Avatar 9:26pm ranjit:

clap, clap, clap clap clap
  9:26pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

I've heard of a few people who listened to the "disco" show and went totally 70's!
  9:27pm nate:

should we try a Wouter Van Veldhoven chant now?
  9:27pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Bell bottom pants
Roller skates
3 piece white suits.
  9:29pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

I don't know:) how would Faye look in bell bottoms and roller skates:-)
  9:29pm ?:

let me tell you faye, evan outdoes himself every year!
Avatar 9:30pm JakeGould:

I like disco & grew up with roller rinks, so get this straight: Sergio Vallente or Jordache. No need for bell bottoms. Iron-on t-shirt top or nice blouse. Feathered hair. Same glasses as some hipsters are adopting nowadays. Also, HELLO EVERYONE! The framerate on this GIF is giving me a mini seizure.
  9:31pm Carmichael:

Hi kids and Faye from Californ eye ay.
Avatar 9:32pm dk:

you think you've heard it all and then... that version of clair de lune happens.
  9:34pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

I grew up in the 80's the hair metal band era
Avatar 9:35pm JakeGould:

1980s hair metal included tight jeans (men & women) New Balance high tops, muscle shirts that showed off hair midriffs, poofed hair.
  9:37pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

@jakegould I could not agree more!
  9:38pm ?:

phillip, I grew up in the 80s also

Also, denim jacket with a painted band logo or related artwork on the back.

Yep, bad dream can eff me up for at least four hours.
Avatar 9:40pm JakeGould:

@Faye, speaking of dreams you know that Tom T. Hall’s “I Love” song freaks me out when he sings, “I love little country streams, sleep without dreams…” HE LOVES SLEEP WITHOUT DREAMS? Is he a sociopath?!?!?!
  9:40pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

Heh:-) I'm so use to having nightmares they don't interfere with my day anymore
  9:40pm ?:

but I prefer 70s tunes much better, phillip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Davis:

i have listened to at least 13 elvis albums today. i bought burgers and buns too but failed to cook or eat them

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Faye:

Avatar 9:41pm ranjit:

  9:42pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

@? I'm not disco, even though I like some of it. I am more of the hair metal bands. And "indie" the exploded in the 1990's

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Davis:

no really, its been glorious
Avatar 9:46pm ranjit:

Hmm, I guess some people have a higher base Elvis level. Still, best to check with your physician before embarking on an Elvis marathon.
  9:46pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

@jakegould twisted sister shame they didn't last :-( "were not gonna take if" and "the price"
Avatar 9:47pm ranjit:

I had that Twisted Sister cassette, which had the quip "PLAY IT LOUD, MUTHA!" on the back. My dad read it and pronounced "mutha" to rhyme with "Alphonse Mucha".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Faye:

You think if I dared Mary Wing to play a twisted sister song shed do it???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Faye:

They are much better than “Quiet Riot.” Now that band. That band did not deserve much. “The Scorpions” are better than “Quiet Riot.”

JohnLennon: 'When Elvis died - everyone was pressin' me for a quote - well, I'll give it to you now: He died when he went into the Army.'...
Avatar 9:51pm JakeGould:

Phillip, really bizarre encounter a few years back with a co-worker who had a “Motley Crue” t-shirt on and I realized she had to be like 5 when the album on that shirt was released.
Avatar 9:53pm JakeGould:

In modern news, Ty Segall sounds quiet good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Davis:

68 to 72 he rocked it to the fucking stars in outer space though, so john lennon got that wrong maybe. although he was absolutely correct when he said the beatles were bigger than jesus
  9:54pm Phillip.(Brooklyn):

@JakeGould I see that once and a while teens wearing band shirts that they weren't even born yet when they were playing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Saw a long PBS thing on Elvis & Gospel - & peanutbutter & PDR aside - one thing Elvis never had to do was fake Soul.
  9:55pm ?:

well faye I got to leave for now, but I hope i'll be back later, bye for now!

Phillip, yeah. Vintage t-shirts are a thing. Saw this t-shirt today in Brooklyn. Took a lot of strength for me not to buy this… instagram.com...
  10:00pm ?:

faye, that's if you want me back.
Avatar 10:01pm JakeGould:

Elvis is great. But he always seems to be straining himself when compared to someone like Frank Sinatra. They were both massive pop starts, but Sinatra just flowed effortless talent. Elvis & Michael Jackson always seemed to be pushed. And I like them all.
  10:01pm Carmichael:

I mean that in a nice way. A wistful, contemplative, nice way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Catch film of Elvis before Hollywood & the Army & you see why he was a revolution. Sinatra had moments of better & worse taste - his stuff varies in quality (mostly earlier is better also - altho' long career). Crooning is dif from Rawking...Jacko was all Performer (& then some) & little Artist - tho' I've heard very Soulful stuff by him - & his youth was like a different person, no - ??...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Ike:

Avatar 10:12pm JakeGould:

@Ike, how so?
Avatar 10:13pm JakeGould:

@northguineahills, I might cave in & buy it. It’s irony I want to avoid ownership of, but it seems like a nice exception to my “no more B.S. kitsch” rule.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Ike:

Just ate spicy eggplant on a stick from a street griller in Bklyn Chinatown. Huge hunk of eggplant, hard to eat it that way, barely stayed on the stick. Nice spicing. This guy has, like, *everything* on a stick. Went well w/this show. Really enjoying the sounds.

@Davis, too late, I already threw away the stick.

@Jake@10:12, zen koan-ish maybe: how can we miss someone if they never really leave? ? -- like a cat that meows to go out, and then won't go when you open the door, & vice versa. Even Buddha would say, stop dicking around, cat, and pick a side already!

Oh cool, Brad L. is an excellent fill-in DJ. I'll have to tune in for that. But if he's n/a, ask Lamin! I'd love to hear more Lamin. Or /rupture if he can figure out how to get there! (Or to go really old-school, try Tom Crowe, who always spun amazing grooves in the 90s w/hilarious mic breaks.)
