Demo Go-Go -- neat!
Juke Joint Jonny:
Yes, it is in fact number ONE!
"Any Chick Will Do: The Michael Shelley Story"
morning Michael - so did Mista Tilbrook appear "sick" when you saw him on Thursday? That should indicate whether or not he will call in today - you don't sound too confident he will.
C in pcola:
cool Glenn T. coming on! Big fan since my Sqeeze single 45s and under lp in high school. that demo was great! any approximate date with that?
Juke Joint Jonny:
Ahh, if only those Liverpool moptops had invested in a wah-wah pedal.
C in pcola:
Santos L Halper:
Loving the demos!
Wow, fascinating to hear this demo after all these years, love the drum machine, etc.
Argy-Bargy was one of my favorite albums ever, and "Mussels" is one of my favorite tracks on it. Thanks so much for that.
Almost sounds like that Lykke li riff
Good morning all
C in pcola - check here for dates:
Eddie & Ernie, dictating policy! Thanks, Michael.
C in pensacola:
he frequently had such beatles/mccartney cord changes.
but hyper so!
Michael, could you ask Glenn what Maid Marion is doing pulling muscles from a shell, and why she's on tiptoe to do it? I love the song, but I've never understood.
A guy worked with when I was in college and eventually dated and had a brief relationship with, got me into Squeeze.
There's a great Amy Rigby version of that Nesmith song on the Losers Lounge greatest-hits album.
fountains of wayne - the epitome of clever-formulaic-soulless pop tunes. ugh!
Dave - we disagree - but I'd love to know what you consider soulful pop tunes
FOW. Another bargain!
Juke Joint Jonny:
Mmmmm-mm-mm-mmm great big country girl…
Chris Guest: "In the dumper. Flush it."
i know you'r a huge fan mike, i don't mean to troll...
when i hear them i picture all the elements of pop music - lyrics, melody, chord changes - being fed into a computer and the result is "fountains of wayne"
that's what i meant by "soulless"
Dave - no sweat - there's room for dissent! I think their songs come from a good place - plus the albums are full of less poppy, more heartfelt songs - that I dont play on the radio so often - but I hear what you're saying
James in ATL:
Disagree completely about FOW being soulless. Well stated Michael.
James in ATL:
Was considering going to see GT in this week at Smith's in ATL. Now, not so much.
i'm gonna destroy that boy.. .it's a cover of this?? by the what for? "I'm Gonna Destroy That Boy" as written by Arthur Resnick & Ronnie Dante.
