Those Gila Monsters are adorable, but I don't think you can keep them as pets because they are venomous. As in deadly. One of the few four-legged animals in the world that has a poisonous bite like a snake. I've seen them on a visit to Texas, they come out of their burrows on moonlit nights and dance, with these cute little gila hoops that go round and round...

@RR: Yes, venomous, just like snakes. Their venom is about as toxic as a Diamondback Rattlesnake. Potentially fatal. and their like little bulldogs, apparently once they clamp their jaws on you and sink their teeth in, you hve to kill them to grt them to let go.
You might be thinkong of Komodo Dragons, not venoumous but with saliva loaded with nasty bacteria.

Gilas's do have venom, and when they bite they don;t let go, working their jaws back and forth to get it into you - It's hard to get them off -

That reminds me of a joke...Revolution Rabbit...hehehe...OK, Gila monsters are supposed to go 'passive' when you turn them on their backs...This ol' boy from Alabama was out hunting, one day...he came across a big bad bear...well, the bear grabbed him and he lost his rifle and the only thing he could think of...mmmm...was to start jacking this big bad bear off..!..sooo...finally the bear went to sleep and that ol' boy took off runnin' and didn't look back till he topped the second hill...then he turned around and saw that bear waving at him to come back and holding his crotch!!!...ain't that weird!?!...:)O(:...

I'm not one for crowds ,, festivals ,, this one I just like that's all,, only negative thing I remember about AAve, is when I was in HS in the 70's told us do NOT get off there get off at Dekalb.. I always got off at AAve anyway but then again I listen to this station..
