Green Pajamas! hurray!
  9:36am the Canterbury wood-elf:

That Lush cover was an annoying no.1 single from the 70s UK charts by The Middle of the Road, I think. I remember when that benefit album came out - various indie bands of the time doing ironic covers of 70s hits to raise money for the Anti-Poll Tax movement. Haven't heard it since then, so a real blast from thee past (used to love Lush back then).
Avatar 9:38am Cheri Pi:

Joe! I love this song, it reminds me of my previous dog who loved to dance to it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Guido from Cologne:

Did the original Lally Stott (composer) version of "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" do anything chart wise?
  9:43am the Canterbury wood-elf:

@Guido: Stott's own version was a hit in Italy, went to number 1 in Australia for one week, and charted at number 92 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Thanks, Wikipedia.

Lou and Laurie had the right idea -- they knew he had only a few days left and they got him the hell out of the hospital and off to Southampton. If I get my way, I'll be expiring in Montauk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Mike Noble:

I may be wrong, but I believe the first 's' in Aislers is silent.

Nice day, huh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am adrian in mpls:

  9:58am DanielGr:

I think the second 's' is fairly silent, too. Or at least not really noticeable since it's followed by the 's' of set.

Avatar 10:08am Brian in UK:

'Specially when Gene Clark sang with them. Same intonation.
Avatar 10:08am KP:

Ha! i just saw this listing. I was trying to check if Gene Clark did "100 Years." He covered it on a bootleg with Chris Hillman. As far as i can see that's it.
Avatar 10:09am KP:

How about that.
Avatar 10:09am dale:

this is my favorite tom rush song. the slide guitar is amazing
Avatar 10:10am Brian in UK:

Did McGuinn do this on his first solo?

Brian, i think you're stealing Joe's thunder (plus you beat me to it).

It's Ali/Frazier on the airwaves!
Avatar 10:36am KP:

The cover story was that Gram had recording ties that limited his appearances on the album. The truth was McGuinn felt that as it was a Byrds record he should do more lead vocals and Columbia agreed. I like the released version but having alt takes is great.
