Greetings fxo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06am Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, Frank. Bat-shit crazy weather here, shorts weather to 39 F in 18 hours.
Need some heavy edification, not to say medication.
Hey, P-90.
Avatar 6:08am fxo:

sorry, but I didn't get the memo about the "Singles". My bad yo.
I'll do the singles show in the future.

Morning Sem, and also you, P-90.

Comment by Irene, stolen by me. She said it better.

Let me make a quick reminder that WFMU is having a silent fundraiser throughout October to raise some much needed funds. We're trying to keep the bill paid and also to buy equipment for our great new performance space, Monty Hall. Go to our homepage wfmu.org to make a pledge, see our great new t-shirts, and nominate your pet in our mascot contest
  6:11am P-90:

Caught the "Little Voice" movie this week, hearing Ms. Horrocks' fab "Get Happy" here every Monday, I just got too curious to wait any longer to check it out.
Avatar 6:15am fxo:

I'll use more stuff from "Little Voice", in the near future. Thanks.
Avatar 6:22am fxo:

real chill in the air, and dark, here in Jersey City.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49am Ken From Hyde Park:

I like the piano playing in the Bring Us Together piece.
  7:27am P-90:

These moods all fit the weather, the time of year, the zeitgeist and all that jazz......very nice. I 'm in a similar boat as Sem, I'm working my way through piles of paperwork, and this playlist is just floating me through it, nice and smooth...
  7:30am P-90:

Ohhh, Mahnnn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am Sem Chumbo:

Still hanging in, fxo. Listening and creative writing ( accounting) at the same time. Much appreciated, YOU the Man, Mahnn.
Avatar 7:36am fxo:

that's mah boy! Thanks P-90 & Sem. Keep doin' what you do, as I will program accordingly.
Avatar 7:39am jamesie:

Hi not sure you can hear this outside the UK but here is a transcript of Iggy's keynote speech for John Peel Lecture - well worth a listen or read... www.bbc.co.uk...
Avatar 7:42am fxo:

lookin' forward to Iggy's rant. Thanks Jamesie.
  7:42am P-90:

The more Phil (Baloo) Harris, the better. IMHO he's a the perfect mascot or "spirit animal' or whatever for your show, fxo. And I LOVE this arrangement of Tony Banks' epic "Firth"!
  7:43am P-90:

@jamesie: that Iggy speech is a riot!

  8:15am P-90:

THANKS for that prog-flovored set, Brother Frank! Is that the same "Max B" who's currently incarcerated for conspiracy to commit much mayhem?
Also: Big thumbs up for more "Rainbow Guitars", you played a little bitty snippet a few weeks ago and I was hoping to hear more...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am Sem Chumbo:

Well, shoot. Have to catch the rest on the archive, printer needs more ink. *Creative accounting* requires many versions:-D. Thanks, fxo: you are not the only one not doing the 45's thing, JJ overnight is also opting out. See ya later!
Avatar 8:18am fxo:

jeez, I hope it was about a different "Max B"...

snippets can be fun...
Avatar 8:21am kat330:

Yo, Frank!
Hey, RRN63, I just revisited Gaylord's list and noticed the link for the Pastis comic was for whatever's the new one for the day. So I added the "perma-link" for the comic in question. It had all my fave things: Rock trivia and homophonic wordplay.
  8:21am david from ks:

,,,this good stuff zgot that sound MrDJF very nice !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am common:

morning frank, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- indeed kat, Thx for that ! Love 'Pearls Before Swine' ; need to bookmark all my fave comicstrips again...
Avatar 8:24am fxo:

Sem, thanks for the response(s). I wasn't ready for the Singles show. I MUST PAY ATTENTION!

thanks kat330, for bein' around. david & common, as well.
Avatar 8:26am kat330:

Fahgeddabout it (the singles show), but will you be doing a Halloween show? I've a couple recs if you do such a thing.
Avatar 8:30am fxo:

kat, not sure. My webcast will be on "All Hallows" day. We'll have to see...
Avatar 8:31am kat330:

I meant next week, before H-ween.
Avatar 8:32am kat330:

That's when people are starting to put together mixes for their weekend parties.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...so far - surprised how low-key FMU (generally) is about Halloween ; I'da thot it would go wild
...but being in Retail myself (well, thriftstore) - I can appreciate the War on Holidays (oh yes)...& it's evermore one big schmerey blur @ the end of the year, isn't it - ?!?...
Avatar 8:38am kat330:

Only direct ref I've seen is Kurt's doing a "horror" show of classic rock, which I gather is not specifically focusing on H-ween themes. But I don't see a tie-in between WFMU playing goblin/horror/ghost sorts of music and consumerism in any event? Just having some fun on a theme and no different from playing tributes to artists' b'days and deaths.
  8:40am P-90:

Adjective of the week: "schmerey".
Avatar 8:41am kat330:

This is NOT "Harlem Nocturne" -- not even a jazzed-up riff on that melody.
Avatar 8:42am kat330:

It's something else, but I can't name it. Wanna check the Lp again, Frank?
  8:44am P-90:

That was "You're my Greatest love", the theme from The Honeymooners. I think.
  8:45am P-90:

It was Danny Gatton, that's what counts, anyway.
Avatar 8:45am kat330:

It sounded like something I should know with a more "exotic" title, but you could well be right, P-90.
Avatar 8:48am fxo:

rebuffering is a drag. But it seems fixed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am Guido from Cologne:

hello Frank and everyone!
Enjoyed what I got from the show (last 1.5 hours or so).
And this "Holy Driver" is great!
Avatar 8:49am kat330:

@P-90: Not to the composer! :)
Avatar 8:52am fxo:

I thought the "Nocturne" piece was from The Jackie Gleason show. Gatton put it out. Great guitar, anyway.

Hey there, Guido.
  8:52am P-90:

He MIGHT have thought he was playing "Nuages", the jazz standard by Django Rheinhart, which Gleason was accused of, er...being "influenced" by. But i think consciously or not, ol' Danny turned it back into the Honeymooners thing as he improved his way through it. Interesting, now I wanna hear it again!
Avatar 8:53am kat330:

Nope, "Harlem Nocturne" is by Earle Hagen and is in perhaps my top 10 list of all-time favorite melodies. So I know it very well.
  8:53am ColinTee:

RevRab, Haunted Smooth Jazz just might be the spoo-key to bridging the Halloween/WFMU gap: https://open.spotify.com/album/1EJtEh1P00Ri2ditEDUKgV#
Avatar 8:54am kat330:

Oh well. Whatever. Have a good week all.
  8:55am P-90:

I concur, whatever it is, "Nocturne" it is not.
--Alfred Hitchcock/Donna Douglas Time already?!?!
This show always seems to end a little too soon......
Avatar 8:56am fxo:

now I'M confused.
Have a nice week, I'll be back with a new webcast, next Monday, same station, same webspace.
  8:57am P-90:

THANX for everything, as always, fxo!!!
  8:58am ColinTee:

Have a great week, yalls!

It's a "P-90 PostScript", brought to you this week by: Joe Barden Guitar Pickups: http://jbepickups.com/

The tune in question was Jackie Gleason's OTHER theme song, I mixed it up with the Honeymooner's theme, but it was: "Melancholy Serenade", the theme from the Gleason VARIETY show from later in the Swingin' Sixties. Here's Danny and the boys:

And another case from the Freeform Files is closed. No musicians were harmed in the production of this Comment. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
