I haven't heard the words Be Bop Deluxe, read those words in print or heard the band in like 30 years. holy crap it's like a time machine

Hey everyone! I've got my pal Andy Zax with me tonight, and he's picking all the records tonight (so far, at least)!
Avatar 9:11pm
Holly in NC:

Well. Andy Zax may be the only reason (other than you of course, efd!) to make me lift my head & throw off my mourning veil (note what state I live in, and note I stayed up all last night listening to election returns...) My internet connection has already gone wonky, and I already blame evil Thom T.

hey Holly... your state of mourning is certainly understandable. It's going to be an interesting couple of years.

@Jake - Donny O. was my very first crush. When I first saw the Simpsons episode ft. Lisa's "Non-threatening Boys" magazine, I almost choked with laughter based in self-recognition. Next idols = Eric Heiden & Bucky Dent. Also Thurman Munson, bizarrely enough, Thurman's poster was at the head of my bed.

She was our generation's Winnie Cooper. Although Winnie > Kristy, imho. Sorry Kristy!

Lloyd Cole lives in Easthampton Mass, very close to where Andy Zax was recently hanging...
  9:41pm
Ron Daily:

Hey Andy!
  9:42pm
john:

So this would be a bad time to show my Lloyd Cole fanboy credentials (four shows dating back to 1985, every imaginable record) and say that I'm one of only two people I know who's actually kind of disappointed by Standards? I do love the cover of California Earthquake, and the City Winery show was nice, but he seemed like he was a little out of sorts.
Avatar 9:45pm
Holly in NC:

Lloyd Cole's collab with Roedelius is really interesting, and did not come up last week. Unless I was napping, which is always possible.

Also I should've ackowledged Danica McKellar rather than her character
