Very saxy show so far, Dave - I hope you have some Sam Butera lined up for us!
  9:45pm Claw!:

Nice Great Gazoo name drop, Dave. ;)
  9:48pm Matt The Muskrat:

I'd like to hear "I want Your Sax" by George Michael. (sic)
  10:01pm Claw!:

Dave, what album was that Elvis cut from? I've never heard that song before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Dave the Spazz:

I think "Elvis is Back"
Avatar 10:10pm Claw!:

Spooooookay!
Avatar 10:11pm Claw!:

Cool, thanks. I gotta do some research into that one, it seems...
  10:15pm JakeGould:

Great Gazoo was an asshole.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Gaylord Fields:

Now that we've heard Billy Miller's astounding one-note sax playing, can his role model Mike Love be far behind?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Uncle Michael:

Nope!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Gaylord Fields:

Aaaaaaand ... there it is! The true sounds of Love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Uncle Michael:

I just don't get all the Mike love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Gaylord Fields:

INSTANT REEEEEPLAAAAAY!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Gaylord Fields:

Speaking of role models...
  10:26pm Rick:

I bought The Bobby Darin Story when I was 17 in 1983 and listened to it until it wore out. His version of Bill Bailey on that record is rather good as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Dave the Spazz:

Darin signed the inner groove of the LP
Avatar 10:44pm Claw!:

I hope there's some King Uszniewicz waiting in the wings!
Prolly the most hilarious sax ever...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm jmd:

This is as close to Yakkity Sax as we'll get tonight?
Avatar 10:58pm Claw!:

There's my man Sam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm pacific standard simon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm pacific standard simon:

Baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan was married to musical actress and singer Judy Holliday. They made one album together, while she was dying from cancer. Parts of it are quite good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm Dave the Spazz:

My grandfather was Judy Holiday's dentist. His office was his apartment on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. He didn't believe in Novacaine under any circumstanes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm pacific standard simon:

Your grandfather scares the crap out of me.
  11:49pm JakeGould:

“He didn't believe in Novacaine under any circumstances.” Scary shit.
Avatar 11:51pm Claw!:

Los Hombres de la Playa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm pacific standard simon:

Then again, my grandfather scared the crap out of me -- he had golf magazines in his bathroom, and his whole house smelled like weird chemicals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm pacific standard simon:

Ho-ho-mo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm Uncle Michael:

Great show Dave. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm pacific standard simon:

Not a saxophone under any circumstances.
Avatar 11:58pm Claw!:

Great show, Dave! Thanks for the sax odyssey. :)

Agreed "Rocket 88" was actually by Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm. Raymond Hill was 17 when he played sax on the 1951 recording. (Jackie Brenston was its vocalist.)
However, it was Tina Turner at 17 who had a relationship with Raymond Hill then about 24 in 1957, child born 1958.
