Wow! Love this. The first two songs right out of the gate are always some of the most choicest-est discoveries. Hi Rex and all. Warmer today.

Funny how for years I had this assumption, without ever thinking about it much, that the "I appreciate good music, stuff like that" voice was Shemp Howard. *bzzzzt!* Wrongo.

Sacramento.....Mentos as a sacrament is an interesting concept
1:19pm
P-90:
Mentos originated as a sacrament in certain Scandinavian and Dutch Lutheran congregations in the 19th century. Didn't they?
The photo is from the movie, Journey Into Fear, made in 1943 !

P-90:
"Journey into Fear": actually a minor classic. Underrated, even. Unlike the majority of glorious schlockfests from whence the stills that usually festoon this page originate...
Got a sudden craving for lima beans. Not sure why.

We screened "Bride of the Gorilla" at the Bone Lab at Columbia U the other night, amidst the collected human skulls, skeletons, etc. Starring Raymond Burr, Lon Chaney Jr., and Barbara Payton, who led a particularly wild (and ultimately sordid) Hollywood life and dropped dead from hard living at age 40. Is there an easy way to search the "Memorial Playlist Mascots"? Google is useless when it really counts, as usual. I'm betting there's been a Barbara Payton Playlist on FP by now. If not, I hereby submit a Listener Nomination.

Among the many things I look forward to during a given Saturday's FP broadcast, Eve Arden's voice ("Does this strike anyone else…?) has assumed considerable prominence. Has Ms. Arden been commemorated with a memorial playlist? One of those rare actresses who communicated sincere intelligence and wit.

Offered the choice of being admitted to the detox unit, Payton said, “I'd rather drink and die.”
