Chaka Khan!
Avatar 3:02pm

Black Friday and I've only bought a cheap cup of coffee. Subversive eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm

I confess. I went into Petco; we needed Greenies. I am prepared to be shunned.
Avatar 3:06pm

I bought some beer around 3am, that I plan to crack open when I'm done cooking myself lunch, does that count?

Thank you, Kurt.
Avatar 3:08pm

I have never seen this Rose/Otomo album, how is that possible!
marmalade kitty:

Japanese expletive?
Avatar 3:28pm

Wow, Maja Ratkje, awesome guest!
Avatar 3:29pm

Kurt played this Spunk track in Feb, 2013 (I know since I clicky-starred it back then).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm

Damn, briefly fell asleep and missed the start of the show! Also missed the start of the Godard film on tv. Hmph!

I say, avoid the crazy crowds and just shop online. Like here: blamebetty.com...

That Cthulhu sweater is calling to me...

remember from long time ago a pipi longstockings episode where she improvised the word spunk, and then, for a whole episode, went looking what object fit the sound of the word ' spunk' . ever since i was a child, i loved that concept....

this is nice.........spunk in any european language doesn't mean anything.....the combination language and sound and meaning is marvelous and endless

thank you maja ratkje

it so happens that in the american language ' spunk ' signifies sperm...but for me as a european it is something completely abstract and innocent
Avatar 4:14pm

shouldn't thor's hammer be on northern lord?
Avatar 4:17pm

I'm listening from Amsterdam today! -- it doesn't seem any different.
Avatar 4:18pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

darker maybe, ranjit?
Avatar 4:19pm

I dunno, the sun sets pretty early in Jersey City this time of year too.

Or do you mean the music? Yes, the music seems darker than what you usually play. Must be because i'm in Amsterdam.
Avatar 4:19pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

the sun never sets on chris christie's empire!

dark. 10.30 europe.wintertime. dark.............
Li'l Miss:

I am the working class, and I make $7.25/hour.

@kurt: thanks for picking up the pipi longstockings tag in your interview with maja ratkje
Avatar 4:27pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

ans, thanks for bringing it up!
Avatar 4:28pm

jeez. i think the last time i made 7.25 / hour was 1979.

@ kurt : sometimes the american way of seeing needs some update in comparisson to the european or african or asian way of seeing things

Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm asking my son if he knows about the bands being played today and he says he's heard of them. I think he'd like some Bathory.
Avatar 4:33pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

absolutely, ans.

@ kurt: thanx

Avatar 4:38pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

you and your asshole buddies weren't wrong.

Avatar 4:52pm

Disappointed to check the playlist and find that he doesn't want to buy a goat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm

Working in nursing back in 2005/6, I made 7.74 an hour, until they gave us a raise on New Years. After that, I made 7.89 an hour. Wow.

@Caryn: in $s U.S. ?!?
Avatar 5:03pm

man. how do people even survive on that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm

@RRN63; yep, that's the pay converted into US dollars. 12-hour shifts taking care of elderly mentally ill people, and we're worth that much. Sheesh. No wonder I had a mental breakdown myself.

Diane Kamikaze played the X-ray Spex yesterday, too--different song. What are the odds?
Avatar 5:09pm

I believe that is called al fresco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm

When they closed down all the Woolworths in the UK, I wonder if some sales clerk put the X-Ray Spex song on?

On a totally unrelated note, one of our local channels has turned into a Yule Log channel! For some reason, I'm thrilled.
Avatar 5:10pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

mark, i've inadverently followed diane like that before. i must be doing something right up in here!
Avatar 5:10pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

ranjit, i love that line

Morning! Checking in from Tokyo
Avatar 5:12pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@Caryn: Outrageous! For $7.89/hour they can nurse my goat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm

@RRN63: hah! Yeah, nursing is a calling, but that calling is seriously called into question when you're cleaning up vomit and blood, dealing with the biter in room 1, the sex offender in room 3, and the 2 patients who liked to cover themselves in their own faeces, while you're being paid a pittance. Especially on the night shift, when there's 5 people taking care of 25 patients.
Li'l Miss:

omg, Kurt this is amazing! Where did you find this?
Avatar 5:20pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

where do you think? at the store!

jon rose is amazing. he's been on the show here before as well.
Alagappan Thenappan:

Its interesting hour once again
Tom Washington:

This is killing my phone battery.

What's the track you've got going in the background? Nothing compliments Black Friday better than vaporwave
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm

shop till ya drop
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm

I was so thrilled that we didn't have to deal with Black Friday over here, and then, yesterday, I saw a tv ad for an electronics store talking about their Black Friday sale. Nooooooooooo! This better not start spreading.
Li'l Miss:

But now I am confused: OF COURSE children want to see adults beat each other up, it is hilarious!
Avatar 5:33pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

lil miss, fair enough.

?: bed music was chaka khan "i feel for you" played at 33 followed by two locked grooves from the wfmu lp 'running in place.'

(posted as ? whoops) Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm

Fortunately, our biggest local news story today is not Black Friday, but this: www.theguardian.com...

Hello there! I hope everyone gets the large screen TV they deserve today.
