Actually, what I like to do is watch that forbidden sport on the TV with the sound off while Gaylord's tunes provide the soundtrack. It doesn't sync up quite as perfectly as "The Wizard of Oz" and "Dark Side of the Moon," but it works pretty well.
@glenn: You do celebrate Bo-vember in Canada, right?

So now both female vocalists from Stereolab have been represented. I never realized Mary did any solo albums. Eerily prophetic title of Mary's song considering her final circumstances.
@Mark @Jake Gould: I once did a tribute show to Mary (who was a friend) but, as I often do, I didn't call any attention to it at the time. This is actually the first time I've acknowledged it, but it seems appropriate to come clean.
That was such a shock--I'm sure it still is. I have a soft spot for the early years of Stereolab. I have video somewhere of my baby daughter falling asleep in a little swing to a tune from "Emperor Tomato Ketchup." That baby goes to Fordham now. Time flies. Great show--your segues are great. They shouldn't work, but they do!
Good evening DJ Gaylord and Friends. I'm glad to see Van McCoy coming up for reappraisal. Actually, I'm still in my Bob Crewe mourning/retrospective phase. His passing kind of got to me. Over the holiday weekend I was listening to his Barbarella soundtrack and falling in love with it again; after the Four Seasons songs he wrote/produced, I maintain that was his finest hour.
@Gaylord: Thanks. That art epiphany came to me when I was exposed to the works of minimalist artists like Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Walter De Maria and mainly Dan Flavin as well as James Turrelll. What they all did with so little… But then created something so different. That I admire.
@P-90: The team of Bob Crewe/Bob Gaudio/Charlie Calello need to receivethe kind of love given to, say Bacharach/David -- not that I'm saying they're equals, but the former trio should be discussed in the same breath a little more.
@Gaylord, exactly! Whether or not they are "as significant" as Bacharach and company, those three should really be "discussed more." And Crewe had a real style of his own as a writer-arranger, which developed beautifully no matter which collaborators he was working with.
