Dan B,

I read an article about which countries give you the less/most number of holidays during the Xmas season. USA gives you only 2 days off between 15th Dec - Jan 15th. So don't get scammed if they try to give you 3 or more!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am

At my job, fairly typical, in addition to New Year's Day and Christmas day, you may choose one 'optional' day (NY Eve or Christmas Eve). And that's it. If you want Boxing Day off you have to use up a vacation day!

Fascinating how holiday songs are among the most unwanted music, and yet it is so omni-present this time of year.

This song SCIENTIFICALLY proves my point that children are potentially dangerous when singing. For those not famliar with this song , it was composed and arranged based on the results of a survey that asked the people what they most dislike in a song.

There's a documentary about The Most Unwanted Song somewhere in Youtube. It was filmed in the early 90's,. There's a part where you see Melamid and Komar asking a DJ to play their song at a disco party where there a bunch of cool kids. Guess what happened?

Hipsterism was born. The kids kind of liked it.

I interviewed Francis Bebey back in the 90s - he lived in Paris for many years, played in NY just a few times. Very interesting artist with unique takes on combining African traditional elements with European music forms ranging from quite genteel to hypnotic to what some people have taken as a bit kitschy (though that always bothered me a bit). His creative identity was connected with what was once called in France "Negritude" - the Afro-European high-cultural movement of mid-century. Sadly he passed away a few years ago, before his mini-cult rediscovery and the release of indie label anthologies. But he actually had many records released in Europe in the mid-late 20th century - see www.discogs.com... .

Actually, when I was a baby my father would take me at night to the roof of our wooden house in the shanty town. He would put a stick and a clothes hanger to get a very weak signal from WFMU. We would listen for hours till he would fall asleep and I'd fell from the roof. I don't know if that beats the dialup thing.
