paula pc:

our 2nd grade class had to vote on favorite song Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night" or this, and this won
Avatar 3:03pm

paula pc:

b k:

Funny what a great movie "Convoy" inspired.

Alright, I'm ready to "right turn Clyde' the rest of this afternoon!

I'm into CB!

That GIF gets me every which way but lose.

I meant, LOOSE!

“Honzu Song”, sounds like “I’ve Been Everywhere.”

Hey how do you make all those funny little accent marks?
Avatar 3:25pm

the Czech Robert Zimmerman?
Avatar 3:26pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

jake, right about honzu, and dawg, good on zimmy. mark, cut and paste. hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm

I thought so too, but this is a Byrds song, IIRC.
Avatar 3:29pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

"you ain't goin' nowhere,' dylan wrote it but the byrds did record it.

The Hungarian Harry Nillson.

Aha, thanks!

I never knew such a train wreck of consonants could be so musical!

Yes, just mentioned in Hinky Dinky zone the Quaker Oats revision, "Look what they've done to my oatmeal"....!

Second Melanie tune played today on FMU. Wikipedia: Daliah Lavi recorded a successful German version of the song in 1971 and Ray Charles released a cover (as "Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma") in 1972. The song has also been covered by Nina Simone and Billie Jo Spears. Yugoslav rock band Bajaga i Instruktori released a cover of it with lyrics in Serbian, called "Vidi šta sam ti uradio od pesme, mama", in 1985.

It was rewritten for a commercial for General Mills Raisin Crisp Oatmeal in the 1980s with the words "Look what they've done to my oatmeal".

In October 2012 the actress and singer Miley Cyrus, known for appearing as Hannah Montana, released a video of her own acoustic version of the song.

Also, in honor of your GIF, “Right turn, Clyde.” www.youtube.com...

heh heh heh

I think Pavel Fajt's last name is pronounced "fight." Heard him and Iva Bittova at Victo long ago.

You pronounce it “Fayght”.

And now we’re hitting the Queen “Jazz” set. Great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I forgot about "Mustapha." I wonder why the "ph" and not "f."

Great show today.

Whoops...sorry. I guess the comment processor deletes leading space characters. Moderator can delete if desired.

Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I wish this were the real EAS tone. I would drop everything and stand obediently for our new mind-control masters' instructions.

That ASCII art looks like two people living in a cave underneath a pile of dirt.

They seem happy, so it is the thought that counts Ken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm

hello Kurdt and group.

OK, Ken fHP, it took a moment but I see it now, it's a tree with gifts in boxes with decorative paper and ribbons under it, right?
At first it looked like a representation of a level of the original Donkey Kong game...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

So now the tree is a puzzle or a kit for bored listeners. Folks can copy it into an editor and put spaces back until things line up again. There are artfully designed presents under the tree, but in its current state, it's just all mushed together.

Do yo think that the orangutan arm is a human stunt arm inside some fur, or the real deal?

i don't think there's any chance it's real.

this is very pleasing

The Stunt Arrn Union is very strict about these things.

i want an all red simpson show one of these days. i don't even care which d.j. does it.
Avatar 4:51pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

how would that be different from just listening to a red simpson record?
Avatar 4:52pm

Glenn, you can't even utter the word "trucker" without playing some Dick Curless.
Avatar 4:53pm

It would be a "virtual group" listen, Kurt. A remote appreciation society.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm

hello kurt and everyone! happy friday!
Avatar 4:54pm

ummmm, i wouldn't have to buy red simpson records?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm

Gould's phrasing here is absolutely amazing. And it makes me sleepy, dammit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm

oh yeah. this'll wake me up. we got us a convoy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm

as usual, sounds good slow
Avatar 4:57pm

At this RPM, he kinda sounds like Dick Curless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm

When I was a kid, I called a radio station and requested a Bob and Doug McKenzie song. When they said they didn't have it, I made cassette copy of the vinyl album I owned and mailed it to them. I was heartbroken when they wrote back to say that the sound quality wasn't good enough for airplay.

There is just something about getting your request played that is so much more than just listening to a record by yourself!

Do I see a cigar stubby being held by that stunt arm? Looks like the fist is not only being used to punch the cop's face but to also singe out one of his eyes with a burning cigar stubby.

Now we are getting somewhere! I am responding to hearing Mr. Hooker.

Thanks Kurt, great set. Have a great weekend everyone!
