Talking of Seattle, I've been four times since moving to the West Coast, though always on blitz-like day trips. Still haven't warmed to the city, somehow. Does anyone have any Seattle tips -- such as particularly interesting/appealing neighborhoods?

@ Cecile: It takes time to prepare a buttered tin properly.
Avatar 1:56pm
Cecile:

hahahhahah
like around 9 seconds.
35 minutes for a tuna sandwich to go.
Avatar 1:56pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Listener James: That's how the tape ends! Guess they wanted to use up every available second of tape.
Avatar 1:56pm

I felt like I was in a dub step video after the drop. Everything mooooooves slow.

Still doesn't beat what I heard a Park Slope Mexican food joint play 7, 8 years ago: Trout Mask Replica, in its entirety.
Avatar 2:01pm
Cecile:

WOW. What time of the day did they do that?
Avatar 2:03pm
Tony Coulter:

Evening, I think (it's been a long time). Strangely, no one seemed to notice it.

Dean:

I'll repeat a comment I made yesterday regarding "traditional" Christmas music, of which I'm a fan. Try Sequentia's "Plebs domini" off the Aquitania album. It's a 12th century "Hey Jude," and it promises and delivers Christmas music heaven. I swear to God.
Avatar 2:04pm
Cecile:

that's so cool
Avatar 2:04pm
still b/p:

Merry eve eve.

The term "corridor courtesy" reminds me of having to open school building and corridor doors for nuns. Though it ain't courtesy when it's mandatory.
Avatar 2:05pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey Dean!
Avatar 2:09pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: I'll give that Sequentia album a try -- once Christmas is over and my mind is open again. Thanks for the suggestion!
Avatar 2:13pm

RE: Side B of the The Dave tape. Once again, they were being thrifty with tape -- that's just how it ends (on my copy anyhow!)
Avatar 2:16pm
Cecile:

this is a lot better than the cheesy cover would have you believe. Great music.
Avatar 2:18pm
Cecile:

Someone might want to consider trying to reissue this
Avatar 2:18pm
Cecile:

It sounds like the Portico Quartet 20 years before they ever recorded.
Avatar 2:18pm
Tony Coulter:

Good idea.

Can't go wrong with someone who was in Etron Fou.
Avatar 2:19pm
Cecile:

oh! I just found that out.

Hey Tony, loving the show. Great to hear you. How is Portland treating you these days?
Avatar 2:30pm

Hey Marie!! Portland and I are getting along just fine. I definitely like it here.
Avatar 2:37pm
Tony Coulter:

RE: The somewhat cheesy photo of Monsieur Mathieu on this cassette's cover. I'm guessing there's some '80s French irony at play -- which doesn't translate particularly well here and now.
Avatar 2:40pm
Cecile:

or the standard cheesy indie jazz record cover of the 80s
Avatar 2:41pm
Cecile:

even the title sounds like a bad 80s jazz record
Avatar 2:43pm
Tony Coulter:

Could be. I guess only Bernard and his cheesemonger know for sure.
