Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm doctorjazz:

Love this album!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm doctorjazz:

Great show so far...have to check out Ted Leo, have been an Aimee Mann fan for a long time
Avatar 12:44pm Hoboken Jack:

Though i knew it wasn't a "best of 2015" i secretly hoped the Everymen intro was "Flash's Theme" by Queen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm doctorjazz:

What would happen if these guys met The Jazz Butcher?
Avatar 12:50pm Mailman Tom:

Keep that good music coming in twenty-fifteen !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Tim 07030:

Pardon me, Joe, THREE of us standing there clapping!
Avatar 12:55pm Joe B:

ha! yes Tim! just checking to see if you were listening!
  12:58pm Toddophonic:

As long as Belock rules the airwaves The Martinets are correct...Rock and Roll will probably never die!
Avatar 1:02pm Claw!:

@Toddophonic - Probably.
  1:02pm Toddophonic:

It was a pretty good year for music and The S.F. Giants, even if everything else sucked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Carmichael:

Hiya Joe. Ready to rock out here on the coast.
  1:27pm sean808080:

Sounds a lot like Green Gartside from Scritti Politti

Like it.
Avatar 1:29pm KP:

Funny how people from same band sound alike. This at first sounds like Rod.
Avatar 1:37pm Joe B:

good point KP. Sean i don't know Scritti, so I will take your word for it!
Avatar 1:38pm Joe B:

Hey Carmichael!
Avatar 1:39pm Joe B:

a great year for todd o Phonic Todd - making it onto the schedule!
Avatar 1:41pm Hoboken Jack:

First listen, i thought Gold-Bears didn't break much new ground with this album, but the more i hear it the more i love it!
Avatar 1:42pm Joe B:

same here, i wasn't into it at first but growing on me,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Fuzzy:

Not knocking Todd-o-Phonic, but I still don't understand how Keili goes from primetime Sat. 3-6 to nothing. Demographics, perhaps.
Avatar 1:43pm Cecile:

hey all!
Avatar 1:43pm Cecile:

Fuzzy, she may not have been able to do the show. Or she didn't apply for one.
Avatar 1:44pm Cecile:

I want Lamin to come back and do a show, but he never signs up for one. So, he's not on the schedule.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Fuzzy:

@Cecile: yeah, I also considered outside influences like school, job, etc. may have been involved.
Avatar 1:45pm Cecile:

those are usually the answer.
Avatar 1:48pm FernandoBelmondo:

I want Pseu and Faye back too! Should I blame Todd???
Avatar 1:48pm Cecile:

and sometimes when a DJ gets bumped from the schedule, they end up being on the air more than when they were on normally. I think Joe was bumped one summer, and he ended up subbing more than he did his regular show if I remember correctly.
Avatar 1:49pm Cecile:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there were a few weeks toward the end of the schedule where Our Joe was doing twice-a-week fill ins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Fuzzy:

@Fernando: absolutely! So many big changes in the schedule this go-round.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Fuzzy:

And I didn't mean "Absolutely -- blame Todd." I meant I want the other DJs back!
Avatar 1:51pm Sem Chumbo:

Dug that last set, in a large, large way. Thx, Joe B:-D
Avatar 1:52pm Cecile:

And Lamin, if you are reading this, apply for a damn show.
Avatar 2:02pm Joe B:

thanks Sem!
Avatar 2:02pm Cecile:

yea, you bring the rock like no other, Mr. B.
Avatar 2:03pm neither:

Protomartyr... can't understand their name, but great album anyway
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Stevel:

I smell Blind Shake coming up.
Avatar 2:05pm Claw!:

Fuck yeah, Ex-Cult! Great set, Joe!
Avatar 2:06pm Cecile:

this is a damn good tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm efd:

@Stevel, Blind Shake got their due on last week's Best Of Part 1!
Avatar 2:08pm Claw!:

That's because they're a damn good band.
Avatar 2:08pm Joe B:

yes efd, but would have been a great segue but i couldnt find it in time! good call stevel
Avatar 2:09pm Claw!:

Holy shit, Joe.
Breakin out the Dark Entries stuff! Killer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Smashing playlist today. Let's hope 2015 comes out this well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Stevel:

Even when I'm ignorant, I'm impressive. I'll take it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Polyus:

Have to admit that despite sharing their hometown, I was pretty 'meh' on The Blind Shake for a long time. Joe's patronage has kind of turned me around on them. They were great last time they were on.
Avatar 2:14pm Joe B:

Polyus, I get the impression they sound nothing like when they started, because they refused to give us any of the pre-Seriousness LPs!
  2:17pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Happy New Year! You're what's keeping me going at work.........
  2:18pm Bluesman:

Right on Sissophonic! Wish I crank my computer speaker louder.
Avatar 2:26pm Joe B:

hey Cheryl, happy new year! Hey Bluesman, same to you!
Avatar 2:28pm Cecile:

I always thought the live Blind Shake were good. They just kind of sharpened their sound and lost a lot of the AmRep kind of influence.
Avatar 2:31pm Hoboken Jack:

I was so happy to see Ben play in Bordentown the other week and finally pick up this album!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Carmichael:

This sounds like Augie Meyer's keyboards.
  2:32pm Clay:

That Boomerang sure sounds like Sir Doug and Augie Myers
Avatar 2:32pm Joe B:

it is Augie!

wish I saw it jack!
  2:34pm Clay:

AmRep? Is that like a Shaklee distributor?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Polyus:

Surely you remember Paul Harvey hawking their products on his radio program?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm doctorjazz:

Laura seems to be on everyone's best of the year...was great seeing her at the Record Fair.
  2:40pm Hackensack Slim:

Hey Joe,
Happy New Year. Here's to a Rockin' 2015.
Avatar 2:41pm Cecile:

Abbrev. for Mpls's Amphetamine Reptile Records.
  2:43pm Clay:

Thanks for clarifying, Cecile. Who is AmRep's primary cash cow act?
Avatar 2:44pm Cecile:

Helmet, Cows
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Brian C.:

Speaking of amphetamines, I've read a few Johnny Cash bios but after reading Marshall Grant's book, it's mind boggling JC recorded anything listenable
Avatar 2:47pm Cecile:

God Bullies, Vaz, Vertigo, Halo of Flies, Hammerhead. Australian X and Urinals reissues.
  2:49pm Clay:

Minneapolis label. No wonder you're so informed. Probably headquartered in Dinkytown in Dylan's old squat. Thanks for the info.
  2:50pm Bluesman:

Get well Billy Miller!
Avatar 2:50pm Cecile:

no, not in Dinkytown at all.
And I was a fan before I moved to Mpls, actually. The label owner has a nice chain of sportsy/cool bars in Mpls called Grumpy's. That's his focus now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Polyus:

Not to mention limited press records featuring his artwork.
  2:52pm Clay:

Are there any Prince alumni just hanging around Minneapolis these days? From the glory times? At like Waffle House or something?
Avatar 2:54pm Cecile:

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis never left. A lot of Prince's band members will play straight jazz or soul shows at the Dakota.
Avatar 2:56pm Cecile:

this lady has a great kind of Siouxsie catch to her voice.
  2:57pm Clay:

Joe - You continue to dominate! Happy Gnu Year!
Avatar 2:57pm KP:

See ya, Joe. Here's to 2015!
Avatar 3:12pm Joe B:

thanks everybody. so many others i wasn't able to get to or find in the library or forgot at home, sorry!
  3:16pm Figures of Light:

Hey Joe -- missed you again! You gotta get that top page updated, which still lists you as being on every Tuesday! It's a killer lineup, and thanks for giving us the nod - all best in 2015 from FOL!
