"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

The simple-but-effective bass playing on that Sonny Simmons brought to mind Soft Machine's Hugh Hopper in non-fuzz mode (I had to look it up - it was Thomas Bellier from Spindrift).

Jimmy Stewart stole a Yeti's hand from a Buddhist monastery in Nepal?

I am suprised to hear that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am
the Canterbury wood-elf:

@AndrewC According to the story, he smuggled it out of the country packed amongst his girlfriends underwear.

Damn, missing apostrophe. Leaves open the ambiguous possibility that JS was polygamous at the time.

That Gulf Breeze story was good, but it didn't have the celebrity frisson of a major Hollywood star, so I'm only giving it four stars.

Was there a Yeti's hand in "Bell, Book and Candle" ?

This show is one reason I gave up my Spotify account last week and added the $10/week over to my monthly FMU pledge. Do it, people.

$10/month I mean...
Avatar 8:26am
John Allen:

well let's face it Emile, Spotify is a reflection of one's self. who needs more of that shit in their life.
Avatar 8:31am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- indeed enjoying show Mr. JA; this program perhaps not as high-profile as some ( - whatever that means, & how would I know), but very much part of the fabric of what makes FMU so rich & satisfying. That's really awkwardly put - but I'm under a lot of pressure from the international yeti conspiracy consortiums & supervising underage prostitutes - & they're high-maintenance, let me tell you...surprisingly tolerant of this marginal music though, so I stick w/ it...
