@RRNov63: So you're saying if it were recorded to 24 tracks it'd be "Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Me"?

@KP Kind of the opposite with me - being old enough to have heard the American mono recordings when they were new - Sgt. Pepper may have been the first one I heard in stereo

SO bummed I missed Simpsons night. Monday after Super Bowl Sunday: YIKES. Not the awesomest I've ever felt.

If anyone hears a weird noise behind the mix, it's me chopping shallots.

I missed Simpsons night as my mother-in-law was in town, and she doesn't speak English, so, it would have been awkward.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
Amanda:

Aww, it's OK Greg and ngh! We had a good turnout considering all the factors of weather, Superbowl, Monday etc. This answers Ken from HP's question too I hope. It was fun.

Thanks for indulging my Beatle and Beatle-adjacent obsession everyone :-) Those tracks are so short it was hard to keep up with all the track info but I'll fill it in later.
Avatar 1:22pm
Roberto:

Go Simpsons peeps!
Avatar 1:22pm
KP:

nd Bob, i know what you mean because i course also knew the mono releases. but after years of antiseptic stereo the older tracks are refreshing. Also there was much manipulating for the American market. Most obviously reverb was poured all over those first few singles making them sound rich and powerful comared to the "real ones." Also the Lps, right up to but not including pepper were substantially different and every choice seemed better on the US ones. I used to have bootleg copies of all this but they sort of disappeared along the way.

I'd like to have attended, but that would have meant leaving the house.

@KP I never liked the stereo on the early Beatles songs - way too much separation

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
Dominick:

ndbob & KP there are positives to each version. Familiarity with hearing the USA mono versions while i was a kid makes them "right" in my brain but there is no denying they have the lo end cut, compressed and smeared with reverb and have several generations of noise and distortion added. Hearing the UK mono mixes the 1st time was a revelation

Many thanks for the kickass show! Always 2 brief!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am
Amanda:

This is a late reply to @David Shortell about the R. Crumb track... I wasn't able to confirm for sure who's singing, but Bob Armstrong is a good guess. To me it doesn't sound like Crumb himself.
