	6:22am Sem Chumbo: I wonder of Huey Smith's Clowns had, like, band jackets. Talk about a collectors item. @fred: have both Mason & Dixon and Against the Day open, going back and forth. The latter a farther smoother read.

	6:35am fred: @Sem: I only read Against the Day once, maybe I should give it another try. It might be the Pynchon book I liked the least (unless it's Vineland)
	6:45am Sem Chumbo: @fred: I am certain to get to Vineland but with my reading habits as discursive as Mr. Pynchon's story-telling, there can be no firm E.T.A. at that point in his oeuvre :-D
	6:56am fred: @Sem: I guess I really should read Against the Day again. He got more focused with Inherent Vice and Bleeding Edge, and I think there were seeds of that in that whale of a book. Though I'm unable to read a book with those kind of thoughts in mind, knowing the future may still change my perception
	7:05am fred: To bring the book theme back to NOLA, I read a fine book about local musicians and the recovery from Katrina: New Atlantis, by John Swenson. I heard about that book thanks to Keili, she also interviewed him on her show, 3 or 4 years ago

When I plough through Moby Dick every five years or so, I am naturally doing so with a mind quite different from the inaugural meeting with the book. How I would or even could approach the book with beginners mind is quite beyond me. Keili's recommendation copied. Thx. @Nate: starred the whole show on the over-powering strength of the first set.

FOR REAL THIS TIME! With a mind-boggling combination of talent and a rock-and-roll pedigree that will leave your jaw on the floor, the members of the Hard Quartet likely need no introduction. But for the sake of due diligence, the band features Stephen Malkmus (Pavement, etc.), Matt Sweeney (Chavez, etc.), Jim White (The Dirty Three, etc.), and Emmet Kelly (Will Oldham, Ty Segall, etc.). We think that's all the info you need. They deliver a short set for BURN IT DOWN! on Friday, November 8.
