Gamelan and on

If there could only be one music, I'd vote for gamelan.
  12:10am
Dean:

If there could be only one music, I'd vote Cheap Trick's "Surrender," Raspberries' "Overnight Sensation," or Bach.

olá Jeff. good to hear you again.

Hey, Everyone. Thanks Coelacanth

If there could only be one music, I would realize I live in a fascist state and the only choice I would have for sanity is escape or death.

Lots of kinds of music here in the good ol' USA. ..
Avatar 12:20am

There will always be at least four music. Toot, whistle, plunk, and boom. That's where the music comes from.

coelacanth:

...or you got shipwrecked on an island with only a solar powered stereo system and a single-genre record collection.
  12:23am
JakeGould:

I always hated desert island disks.
  12:24am
Dean:

I assumed the hypothetical was positing a state of nature, not an arbitrary political constraint. If there were a law against Bach, I'd play his music anyway. Fuck that shit.

coelacanth:

fleep, what about ssss,ffff,mmm,and aaahh?

-and click,rattle,boing,& whoopwhoop?
  12:26am
JakeGould:

What about rattle and hum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am
coelacanth:

...and if they took it away- i've got enough music in my head to hold me over for years.

Jake- me too, but what if you programmed it yourself?
Avatar 12:28am
jeff-m:

hmm, have to go with Spiritualized's Laser Guided Melodies and some Debussy and Chopin
Avatar 12:29am
fleep:

coelacanth, I think click, rattle, boing & whoopwhoop only cut one album and then broke up.

Was watching SNL marathon on Saturday and saw the episode with Sun Ra Arkestra as musical guest from '77 or '78. Very surreal and awesome.
Avatar 1:51am
jeff-m:

ha, wow. never knew that happened.

Thanks Mugsy, yeah i like the check out the 'zone' a bit
  2:10am
JakeGould:

Rory, kind of odd to think how edgy SNL was back in the 1970s and how monolithic the institution is now… Is there such a thing as comedy on NBC that is not connected to Lorne Michaels anymore? Bless the guy for what he did, but he wields more power than Johnny Carson nowadays when you think about it.
  2:11am
JakeGould:

Also, Sun Ra was on the May 20th 1978 episode with Buck Henry hosting. www.imdb.com...
