"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Morning, John Allen, and those fixed in place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43am
the Canterbury wood-elf:

Morning people! Frozen in place like an Alaskan wood frog...
Avatar 6:47am
John Allen:

yknow those frogs can freeze/defrost ad finitum, yet if you defrost meat once and refreeze, it's pretty much garbage
  7:19am
Phillip in Brooklyn:

That's true. If you want to get yourself really sick eat red meat that's been defrosted and refrozen. 4 whole days in the ER sick as a dog taught me that lesson
  7:22am
Phillip in Brooklyn:

Once you get bed bugs? You might as well bulldoze the building because even if you hire a professional exterminator? They will still come back
Avatar 7:25am
John Allen:

actually if you freeze bedbugs, they will not come back. Over the course of several weeks I'd put a stack of books at a say or two at a time in the freezer to make certain bugs were not living inside the spines. critters can make you paranoid on a very cellular level.
  7:27am
Phillip in Brooklyn:

$700 for a brand new bed! Because I can't have any bed I have arthritis in my back. And the little F'kers have made it their home after 3 days! I feel like setting fire to the whole damn building!!!
Avatar 7:30am
John Allen:

I visually inspected the inside of each of 8000 records to make sure no bugs were inside the jackets before I moved.
  7:32am
Phillip in Brooklyn:

$350 dollars to have the apartment bombed with pesticide $100 for new linen.

Phillip in Brooklyn:

Does anyone know if the Hudson River is frozen over? I feel like jumping off the George Washington bridge!

Phillip in Brooklyn:

You ain't kidding! They just made a meal of my legs and arms! Now I have to smear on the special cream that a poison after I was bitten to death all night:-(
  7:43am
Phillip in Brooklyn:

I'm soooooo tired! I'm scratching off my damn skin! I'm going to go sleep on the floor in the kitchen
Avatar 7:53am
John Allen:

i remember the day when my neighbor saw me moving out, she said "where will you go"? i just said "somewhere else". She looked at me as if I was betraying a cult/ like I had choices. But I had a way out. I wasn;t a victim, like her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am
the Canterbury wood-elf:

Hang on in there Phillip. It's hard to imagine now, but there will be a time in the future when you're telling stories about the crazy bedbug situation back in 2015, and laughing about it. All things pass.
Avatar 8:06am
glenn:

huh. maybe that's WHY THEY TELL PEOPLE NOT TO EAT DEFROSTED AND REFROZEN MEAT.
Avatar 8:09am
John Allen:

glenn is right. maybe there is a parallel moral to be learned here
Avatar 8:12am
glenn:

oh, but even better - how many people die in lightning strikes every year after being told not to shelter under trees in a thunder storm? morons.
  8:14am
tino:

kaiser's best work
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am
George of Troy:

Good morning John and gang. Sorry I have nothing to contribute to the bedbug / rancid meat discussion. I once suffered through a flea infestation if that counts.
Oh, and some bats once too, yeah.

  8:36am
tino:

lightnin's best work

Terry:

Tennis rackets work great for bats. Just hold it out in their flight path. Their echolocation won't "see" the strings and they smack right into it. This only stuns them. Then cover with a pot or bowl and get a record album. Slide the album under the bowl n' bat and carry outside. Leave the bat under a bush or somewhere where a hawk or cat won't get it right away. After awhile it wakes up, wonders what happened, and flies away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am
George of Troy:

The flea infestation was my own doing (and born of kindness, really). I took in a stray cat without following proper protocols.
Avatar 8:37am
John Allen:

terry, I think you have just written a new PSA for the station
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38am
Marcel M:

What was the name of that box set of Henry Kaiser, John?
  8:39am
Terry:

The only tough part is choosing the right album
Avatar 8:42am
John Allen:

i guess "blizzard of oz" would be sort of poetic here in this case. or "bat chain puller"
  8:45am
Terry:

The Best of Cream - Heavy Cream has the song "anyone for tennis" on it.
Avatar 8:46am
glenn:

howard devoto autographed my copy of j.p. donleavy's dealfonce tennis, since i didn't have any other paper on me.

Thanks for easing me into another Wednesday, John. Stay positive, everyone.
