Did BLT spill over to 3:02 or 3:03 there? That track at 3:00-3:02ish was still John Fahey?

does the air mix sound OK?

sounds great, Irwin!

Listening Out There:

Sound: Vocals are a bit rough, fuzzy. Others hear that?
Avatar 3:17pm
Fredericks:

Quite a few years ago, I asked Jon to write "something anarchistic" on a CD he was signing. He wrote "Respect the flag."

- yes, hot & vocals maybe a tiny bit overloaded, but good & loud & full.
Avatar 3:24pm
Fredericks:

I always thought it was play on "icon."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- reference also Pink Floyd's 'Astronomy Domine': 'Dan Dare - who's there?'...
  3:25pm
Dean:

By "flag" he might have meant a copy protection flag. He didn't want you to rip and burn the disk!

and a crack of thunder is heard as Jon Langford sings the words "inclement weather."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm

heard by me, at least.
  3:28pm
P-90:

"Dan Dare" is a classic, the English Buck Rogers, not as well known here as it should be, even b SF and comics aficionados.
Avatar 3:31pm
YETI BOB:

I think Go4 themselves were disappointed with the sound of it, which is why they re-recorded it 25 years later ("Return the Gift")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...somewhat like what Townshend said about 1st album by...Pink Floyd.

My sister has a beach house in Milton Delaware, When there I often pop into the Dogfish Head brewery store (as one does) I just realized, looking at Irwin's playlist page, that YOU'RE THE GUY WHO DOES A LOT OF THAT DOGFISH HEAD LABEL AND POSTER ART (Johnny Cask etc) Consider me even more of a fan than I was before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
common:

love that brewery, paul b.!
  3:52pm
G:

My uncle is next door neighbors with the Dogfish owner. That's some huge factory they built in Milton recently...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
Ike:

Well, it's not like there's much else happening back home on the Delmarva Peninsula. If they have to build beer factories somewhere, build them next to the "Delmarvelous" chicken farms on that flat boring land where I grew up. Maybe the beer will taste like chicken-fish heads.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm

listening in Austin, TX. good stuff, all new to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm

Home of the 90 minute IPA, Burton Baton. G. Yeah, They got a pipeline that runs about a quarter mile from brewery bldg to the bottling plant, It's gradually become a good sized facility. Milton can't complain

Does Joe Frank still read these? Did his voice change? Sped up and pitch-shifted? Something is off about these recent Joe Frank episodes?
  4:31pm
a guy:

The recodings come from various periods in Joe Franks long career. Irwin doesn't play them in order. Sometimes we get Younger Joe sometimes we get Old Joe. This is the first time i've ever heard Singin Joe.

Joe's being a kinda of a dick. I like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
common:

is it him or his character who is a dick? hard to say, i guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
Sem Chumbo:

Sorry, common. I confused the actor and the part. The role is that of a kind of dick, I think, when it comes to specifying a sex worker.
But I wonder who Joe had in mind when he wrote the part?

Anyone receive the 7SD newsletter today? The plan is to have a Google hangout session with Ken & Andy. Ken was looking for people to send in their Gmail e-mail info to participate. (Not sure if Irwin has mentioned that; I was on the phone for a bit.)

'The best sign of intelligent extraterrestrial life is that they *haven't* contacted us.'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
Irwin:

RRN63 - Earthlings might be bad, but extraterrestrials SUCK. They're evil. You saw that TZ episode "To Serve Man"? They're ALL like that. And they have bad fashion sense. They dress like idiots. They think they're ahead of the curve, but they're so far behind. Brooklyn hipsters dress better and even their beards are better than those of aliens, who lack facial hair.
  5:42pm
slowbear:

Yeah that's why we're shooting Doritos commercials into the big dipper.

You've had "offers from other orbs," Irwin? Stop fronting! Everybody knows Neptune didn't really want you, Jupiter has a terrible housing crisis, and Saturn just SAYS it gets good FMU reception, but actually doesn't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
common:

yay! moondog! there's a handsome alien for ya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
Ikє:

And don't even ACT like you could hitch a ride to Alpha Centauri or those other solar systems. I've been sticking my thumb out waiting for a passing ship for 500 years, and *nothing*! These are the boonies, I tells ya.
Avatar 5:51pm
Caryn:

Since the alien society seems to follow the bee pattern, the alien in Alien would seem to be a male drone. But what do I know?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm
Irwin:

Ike: I exaggerated. Nebraska made an offer. They're sort of like another planet.
Avatar 5:54pm
Caryn:

@Ike: Maybe if you started hanging out at secluded spots, preferably in the middle of Iowa or somewhere, and dressed like a stereotypical redneck and drove a pickup truck, the aliens would come, since that seems to be the one segment of Earth society that keeps getting picked up and probed by alien beings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm
ikє:

Heh, @Caryn, excellent point, but of course, most of us know better than to let the probers pick you up. Those jerks aren't even usually going anywhere but to other planets full of gullible rednecks.
