Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Lewis:

sounds a lot like duane...
  3:06pm Laura L:

Where is here?
Avatar 3:07pm glenn:

here is where you want it to be.
Avatar 3:08pm Hoboken Jack:

Never really listened to That Petrol Emotion before; interesting (or perhaps not) that they went with a Feargal-esque vocal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm common:

here?...oh, here!
Avatar 3:12pm Sem Chumbo:

Here now, pay later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Irwin:

"Here" is a hair salon on Canal Street, Laura.
Avatar 3:15pm glenn:

did you enjoy the election last night, sem?
  3:15pm david from ks:

,,,good stuff !!
  3:19pm Laura L:

Saw Cassandra Wilson do her Billie H. tribute at the Apollo last month--her performance of "Strange Fruit" was especially spectacular. That CD is a keeper.
Avatar 3:20pm Hoboken Jack:

Am digging this Wolf! Took some intrepid googling but i found them.
Avatar 3:22pm Nanker de Tucson:

Yeah! Joe Frank today
Avatar 3:22pm Sem Chumbo:

@glenn: as my Newfoundland grandfather would say, "The arse came right out of 'er, by", and not just for Alberta Conservatives. Cardigan Steve might now have more sleepless nights than he bargained for:-D
So, a very good day being had here.
Avatar 3:23pm Paul D:

does anyone know what the background music is irwin is using
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm rrg:

Irwin does.
Avatar 3:24pm glenn:

yep. i've never been prouder or happier to be a godless pinko.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Irwin:

BKG music: "Space Age Hannon" by Shelby Bryant
Avatar 3:26pm Paul D:

thanks irwin
Avatar 3:28pm glenn:

awesome. a song about jim lauderdale.
  3:34pm jan:

I'm mostly interested in hearing new music and not the music of my youth, but The Byrds hold- up music and lyrics both.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm rrg:

Yes. Though the lyrics were Bob Dylan's (in this case).
Avatar 3:43pm Hoboken Jack:

I enjoy the phrase "the top of the hour" as it doesn't discriminate against those unfortunate souls in other time zones.
  3:45pm berbo:

YM Robyn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm common:

r. stevie yep.
  3:48pm Dean:

@Hoboken Jack: Actually, it does discriminate, because there are a few time zones adjusted by 1/2 hour!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm rrg:

Like we care about Newfoundland.
  3:50pm Dean:

Care about it?! I can't even pronounce it!
Avatar 3:51pm Hoboken Jack:

@Dean, excellent point! And Nepal, 15 minutes behind Bangladesh! Irwin is big in Nepal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Lewis:

ahhh for the good old days...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Irwin:

Old Codger gave Old Man Henderson his start in radio in 1896.
Avatar 3:53pm laughingacademy:

Doggone 'em!
Avatar 3:53pm Roberto:

Fleg tekkit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Lewis:

and How is the Old Codger these days? still with us?
  3:54pm Dean:

"Good morning, Nepal, at the top of the quarter-hour! Here's some Journey to start your day."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Irwin:

The Codger was diagnosed with a tumor, but it went away. Even cancer doesn't want to be around him.
  3:56pm Listener Robert:

I'm just thinking about how it would be to put a single program on the same frequency on multiple, spaced (but w overlapping signals) stations on the same frequency. Probably worse than the buzziest multipath you ever heard on FM. But maybe I'm wrong.
Avatar 3:56pm Roberto:

Voicedude FTW!
  3:58pm Listener Robert:

This is the best kind of mashup: where not only the music but the lyrics mesh well.
  4:02pm Listener Robert:

Now I just thought of a way Henderson's idea could've worked. It'd require the phasing & power of all those AM stations to be perfect, so that in effect it'd be like a single continent-wide radiator. That's the only way to avoid null spots.
  4:04pm i k e:

We were mostly baffled in the volunteer room trying to remember Gotye's name as well as the Romantics. Somebody actually thought the latter was Cory Hart. Did Cory Hart even make music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Mike East:

Sunglasses at Night, Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Irwin:

Gotye's name is Wally DeBacker.
  4:05pm P-90:

  4:21pm JakeGould:

Hello humans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Mike East:

@Paul D - I have not been able to get the website to work where you buy tickets. Its an excellent question, but I have no idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...having returned from Cali., I learn people in NewHampshuh do not seem to appreciate applause when glasses are broken...
Avatar 4:26pm Paul D:

@mike east i tried calling them but no answer
thats why i ask
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Mike East:

@Paul D - I found one place that makes it seem that tickets are $14 ($12 if you're a member of the montclair film society)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Parq:

Paul D and Mike East, it looks like it's $14.
  4:28pm marc:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Parq:

A year later, the huge devoted family fell into internecine litigation and was in court for decades. A series of law firm got the entire family fortune. And yes, the senior partner at the lead firm was a church member!
  5:04pm Fredericks:

@Parq: Sorry to hear about that Parq.
  5:04pm Listening Out There:

Sounds a bit like Don Cherry...but he died several years back.
  5:04pm Fredericks:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Mike East:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Irwin:

Tony, I love kitties, so sorry to hear about yours. What's it's name? What coloring?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Mike East:

nice drum sound on that Zammuto. Real live sounding
  5:15pm JakeGould:

@Tony: All cats go to heaven. My condolences.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Irwin:

Mike: Yeah, that's the first thing that grabbed me about it. There's lots of great surprises on that album. Drum pattern on that track is sublime.
  5:16pm JakeGould:

@Irwin: “What coloring?” Cat bigot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Irwin:

Guilty as charged, JG.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm common:

@tony: sorry about your friend. mine has diabetes and is old. good vibes to you and the kitty!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I think Richie means it...
  5:21pm JakeGould:

@Irwin: I guess I am projecting because I kind of am sick of Tabbies. What kind of horseshit coloring is that? Like camouflage for when they are in the woods or something?
  5:24pm Tony Seymour:

Fluffy is her name......kall her Fluff for short.....all black with white legs ......... she lost use of her hind legs.....when you see that its near the end....she is resting now....i am holding her.......driving me nuts......i never get sad like this........

  5:28pm Listening Out There:

Geez, more Ellington...picking up from last week... Good arrangement, this...
  5:28pm JakeGould:

@Tony: Fluffy sounds like a great cat. Make the most of what’s left. 16 years is a nice long life for a cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

FMUvians = cat people, makes sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm common:

indeed JakeGould. i know that don't make any of it easier, tony.
  5:34pm JakeGould:

Putting out commercial radio fire with gasoline since 1968.
  5:34pm Listening Out There:

  5:36pm P-90:

Well, no mistaking that we've crossed into the Nick Zone...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Tony - this's the part of getting a kitty I fear, but I prob. will resign myself to it...esp. justifiable if a rescue kitty. All the best to you & she.
  5:38pm Tony Seymour:

thanks everyone......i am telling her now that peole around the world are hearing about her! like she understands english!!!! thanks again for the support.
  5:39pm JakeGould:

  5:39pm JakeGould:

Nick the Bard! Thank you for the Jesus Jones flashback!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm common:

my cat speaks to me constantly...and tells me she is not a cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm rrg:

Nick! Please update the playlist.
  5:42pm P-90:

Cat's who live around English-speaking humans understand English just fine. The classical solution to managing the disappointment that their lifespans are relatively short is to have overlapping-lifespan kitties.
  5:42pm Listener Robert:

Well, rrg, I can tell you this one's a Neil Cicierega mashup. The Bard may be shorthanded, so getting behind on playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Nick the Bard:

OK, back to the playlist, sorry about that, tech stuff going on here with other things
  5:43pm JakeGould:

@rrg: No idea what you are complaining about. Nick is taking care of the playlist better than most DJs.
