Yo Fabio!

Yo ho, Fabio.

Cecile:

I can't remember if it was you, Fabio, but someone sais they found the movie "Black Swan" amusing a while back. I was puzzled at first, but then I saw the actual movie, and it was fricking hilarious. Best bad movie I've seen in forever.

Polyus:

The final shot is a treasure. "I was perfect. . ."
Avatar 3:12pm
V Priceless:

it's got nothing on "The Red Shoes"

Failure of tuning
Avatar 3:12pm
Cecile:

Yeah. I was almost crying by that time, Poly.

Hey hey, fellow Failures!

I was rooting for Mila Kunis to pull a Nomi Malone and kneecap her or something.

or to quote the Simpsons: "the rat symbolizes obviousness."

digging.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
Polyus:

I don't know if Darren Aronofsky was shooting for camp, but he sure achieved it.
Avatar 3:18pm
Cecile:

exactly, Polyus. It was just like this ridiculous, overacted trainwreck in tulle. I will have to watch it again with more beers.
Avatar 3:18pm
Cecile:

It made whatever happened to Baby Jane look naturalistic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
Polyus:

I recall that when the lights came up, we just sat there laughing as the confused/disgruntled crowd filed out, some of them looking at us like "you guys thought that crap was funny?" Way better than Showgirls.
  3:23pm
Dean:

Until just now, I never realized that Sonic Youth's "TV Shit" is not their execution of this Stockhausen.
Avatar 3:24pm
Cecile:

Yeah, it's better than Showgirls, but it's just as heavy handed.
Avatar 👻 3:24pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

more digging.
Avatar 3:25pm
Cecile:

this is great, imdb poster goes "this is either the most awesome stupid movie or the most stupidly awesome movie"
Avatar 3:28pm
Cecile:

sorry that was from Rotten Tomatoes

Sampling Aaron Copland?

Needing dig therapy soon, at this rate.

northguineahills:

@Dean: I have both records (well, the SY one on cd).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
Polyus:

I like Darren Aronofsky because of his flaws, not in spite of them. I haven't gotten around to seeing Noah yet, though. That one looks like a bummer.

Ken From Hyde Park:

I see that "Mr. Giant Man" is up to 58 clicky stars. That's a lot of stars; a lot of clicky.
Avatar 3:35pm
steve:

Collins wrote a great book on circuit bending and diy noisemakers. s219.photobucket.com...
  3:36pm
Dean:

@ngh: I have the SY CD, the only SY in my collection, not counting the delightful "Fuck Shit Up" with Thurston, Lee, and Christian Marclay from their live performance at Victo, which I saw. Not a big SY fan here, but I fell for their tip of the hat to KS.
Avatar 3:36pm

Heya Fabs and peeps. Lots of connection issues and page reloads on my end. What I can hear is great, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm

well hello. still failing here.
Avatar 3:41pm
steve:

Mr Giant Man has attained some sort of WFMU singularity. its like the point at which we all intersect.
  3:42pm
Dean:

Pretty sure I could go 24 hours exclusively complaining, but that's just me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Polyus:

That's a good idea for a contest to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.
  3:46pm
Dean:

@Polyus: Don't get me started on the Guinness Book! Have you seen that thing lately? Cheesy paper, bad photographic reproductions, inane records...

[Just kidding.]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm

really enjoying this, fabio! and right you are, steve!
Avatar 4:16pm

I have heard a couple things from that Padna record this week, really liking it.
Avatar 4:19pm
Cecile:

wow? really? I thought those were treasured, valued movies? it's sad to hear that the masters fell into disrepair.
Avatar 4:25pm
Fabio:

@ Cecile: Actually, some of the negatives were partially destroyed in a fire! they had to sources sections from various archives to piece it all together again, but they did an excellent job!
