This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

There's a voodoo doll of me at work, I was told.

Anyway, I'll have to defer to you on that one, WD. Though, you are the one with a revenge doll in your likeness, so your advice may be rather bad to take at face value

Avatar 8:18pm

The southern side, New Zealand! Where exactly are you based in the world?
Avatar 8:21pm
Flash Strap:

Always nice to greet an NZ brother. I'm in St Louis, Missouri. Which is fine, but not really my dream spot or anything
Avatar 8:28pm
Flash Strap:

rather be anywhere near a god damn ocean, please

Avatar 8:31pm
Flash Strap:

thanks for listening NGH, see ya! (and yeah, definitely not THAT studio one)
Avatar 8:33pm
merk:

I would say the grass is always greener, though I know nothing of St. Louis. Being near the ocean is no doubt good for soul. As is good music! At least you are close to that.
  8:34pm
walkingtrees:

high mountain air does wonders for the soul as well! but i do miss my oceans

Avatar 8:58pm
Flash Strap:

speaking of the stones: if you want to get really steamed, check out the article on the AV club, "How sticky fingers invented southern rock" or something like that. it's such pure garbage, it's genuinely fascinating
Avatar 8:59pm
Flash Strap:

Hey C! I go till ten whenever I can, just for you latecomers, so dear are you to my heart
Avatar 9:00pm
Ike:

I mostly adore the A.V. Club and especially its commentariat (one of the few that's as cool as the FMU commentariat) and I don't know much about southern rock, but just from the title, that article looked like hot garbage for sure.
Avatar 9:00pm
merk:

Will have to check that article out, sounds hilarious.
Avatar 9:05pm
Flash Strap:

I have quite liked AV Club for a long time, and while I'm not ready to ring the funeral bells yet, but they've been leaking talent horribly for a few years now... between this and the "Most Skippable" beatles songs (which included I am the Walrus, and like a 3rd of the Abbey road medley), I've lost what little faith i had in their music section. which was never their strong suit anyway, in my opinion. And now the Dissolve, having leeched all their film writers, is a vastly superior site for flick reviews
Avatar 9:07pm
Flash Strap:

i mean, you know... my opinion
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm
coelacanth:

dear to me you are as well,Evan!
...and if this is a mutual admiration society i should tell you i bought your album on bandcamp. -'sorry i didn't pay more for it, but i did what i could. i spread my bandcamp purchases pretty thin. i try to divide sorta evenly whatever balance i have in my paypal account.
Avatar 9:10pm
Flash Strap:

hey man, you coulda had it for free, I wouldn't have minded. Thanks for listening to it, how'd it hold up?
Avatar 9:11pm
Flash Strap:

you don't have to answer that, by the way
Avatar 9:15pm
Flash Strap:

Whoa! and a super-belated hello to IKE! You look so familiar, I didn't realize you weren't already here. glad to see you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm
coelacanth:

'never heard of the "av club",but it sounds like i may be too late!
...i have little patience for the majority of self-appointed authorities anyway.

Flash,if i like something enough to download it,i never take it for free.(unless i don't have the option to pay- which i Love, because it means they're doing alright,i guess!)... i put it in my wishlist 'till i have money in my account if i have to.
Avatar 9:17pm
Ike:

I've never liked their music section much anyway. But now that the Dissolve has dumped Nathan Rabin, the My World of Flops series is back on A.V.! Hooray!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm
coelacanth:

-so i've listened to it twice. it's relaxing, obviously. i cannot say more yet! i've been busy with stuff lately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm
coelacanth:

...actually,as i recall, i was moved more by some of the less relaxing tracks! (where there's a dense, subtly wild background. that's how i remember it anyway!)
  9:24pm
walkingtrees:

thanks bud!
  9:26pm
walkingtrees:

g'night flash
Avatar 9:27pm
Flash Strap:

Ike: that's pretty good news! MYOF had some great entries. Though I will say it was nice to see rabin writing with an editor, which they still have at the Dissolve...
Avatar 9:27pm
Flash Strap:

Well, thanks Coelacanth. you're good people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
