Happy America Day! Anyone else see some amazing illegal fireworks near them? Deep Brooklyn is fairly sick with that stuff.
  9:58pm
JakeGould:

@sugarwolf: The day after July 4th beer should be cheaper, right?
Avatar 9:59pm
sugarwolf:

my neighbors have are finishing up their fireworks display right now SOOO LOUD. I don't know how legal they are.
  10:01pm
JakeGould:

It has been really weird seeing fireworks for sale in stores this year.

evenin folks. Jake - we just had ~15-20 minutes in which there was a nearby eruption/explosion like every 3 seconds, coming from blocks nearby in every direction. now im home and my apartment has this great burning smell. total lawlessness in Little Poland for about one hour every year, good times.

  10:36pm
marc:

Geocities went defunct in 2009
  10:37pm
JakeGould:

@steve: “Little Poland”? In Brooklyn? Greenpoint?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@marc - Someone copied it (at least part of it) into ReoCities - www.reocities.com...
  10:43pm
J. Live:

If you find Jimmy and the Ferris Wheels in the library, could you post the album art for Papa Wheelie? Hanx!

Cooh John:

Happy 4th PB and all you all nighters. Just got done watching the fireworks and see John Fogerty in person sing Fortunate Son. That makes me a fortunate son.
  10:50pm
JakeGould:

@KenfromHydePark: The Internet Archive also has a nice searchable GeoCities 2009 archive. archive.org...

Cool archive, Jake. I think Honky Tonk Radio Girl Becky would approve of this set.

I'm sorry to debunk your debunking, but if you're an astronomer light pollution is very real indeed.

JakeGould:

“Feh. I had bowel movements that lasted longer than that fireworks display.”
  11:52pm
JakeGould:

@EyepatchFox: Hmmm… I’m in Bay Ridge (aka: Brooklyn’s Staten Island) so not too sure we are more then neighbors in spirit.
  11:54pm
Listener Robert:

Jake, I just got in & as to your early question, I don't just SEE illegal fireworks, I MAKE them -- but they're a spit in the ocean to the commercial stuff being shot all around me. Lot of work to hand-make fireworks.
  11:55pm
Listener Robert:

That's in the Bronx, BTW.
  11:56pm
JakeGould:

@ListenerRobert: Back in the 1970s me and a neighborhood friend would make our own M-80s from the gunpowder we found from duds we collected off the the street near us during July.
  11:57pm
Listener Robert:

That's not GUNpowder, but I understand. Triangle salutes are more efficient, loudness-wise.
  12:01am
JakeGould:

Thanks Pat!!!
  12:11am
Steve-O:

Yes, Pat, you *did* prove it all night!
