Avatar 9:12pm Holly in NC:

Glad to here, especially glad to be listening to efd's show! Also glad that 4 weeks into treatment and after some scary growth, main tumor has finally shrunk a little this week.
I think WFMU family good thoughts are primary reason :-)
OK. That is it for Holly medical shit for the evening :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm efd:

that is some awesome medical shit, though! Thanks for the update.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm -andrew-:

Glad that you're doing well Holly. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm fleep:

That's the name of the game.
Avatar 9:17pm bobdoesthings:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Alex of Chicago:

I am here for the Hookworms party.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm efd:

you've come to the right place, Alex!
Avatar 9:40pm MikeY:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 9:44pm bobdoesthings:

Avatar 9:45pm bobdoesthings:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Chop Scott:

EFD! Great to hear this--good call to capture and get outta the tent for the last recording--Cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

( - interesting to know, efd, Thx - it's a curved arrow, like 'turning up' - from the Mac character palette...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm efd:

nah I think you guys are right... I just pushed it up during the transition between songs. Thanks for the alert!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm fleep:

And on this PC, it's a curved arrow pointing down, confusing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Haha! I just mean: Yay! I'm turning this UP !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm efd:

hey Scott! Plus seeing this set totally gave me the energy to get through the final hours of the final night!
  9:47pm cheri:

evan, the hookworms are real awsome!
  9:47pm Firebottle:

Wow, cool schtuff. Thanx!
Avatar 9:48pm Loretta:

good evening everyone..... looking forward to the HOOKWORMS set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Alex of Chicago:

Is this off the board, or just really really great mics?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(@fleep: curved arrow clockwise like a knob.)
...Hookworms !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm efd:

Alex, it's off the board. Each stage had cables dropped that we were able to plug our digital recorders into.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm efd:

since we're official radio partners and all.
  9:57pm cee dubbles:

HOLY SHIT!! The most amazeballs set!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm efd:

Avatar 9:59pm bobdoesthings:

nope. hear!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm efd:

that too! :)
  10:01pm Sybil:

Good Wednesday, all!

Holly, I'm late catching up with the situation, but glad to read some good news. There should only be good news from here on in. (The important blinky things blink in agreement.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm -andrew-:

This is so great Evan, thanks for getting this on the air!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Uncle Michael:

Do Hookworms cover Ringworm?
  10:03pm Sybil:

Uncle Michael, you read my mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Uncle Michael:

I use an earworm for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm efd:

it's a new sound, from deep inside the ground.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm common:

just had to say that hookworms are one of my favorite bands of the past 5 years. thank you evan and hookworms
  10:07pm Ignore Function:

I'm hooked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm efd:

you're welcome common (and andrew)! Believe me, I'm thrilled that everything worked out and I'm able to air it tonight!
  10:10pm Sybil:

Mentioned already, but the sound quality is amazing. Plus, I love this one (Off Screen).
  10:11pm Sybil:

but I forgot how much I hate the "math question".
Avatar 10:11pm MikeY:

Never heard these guys b4 Quite tripped out Great with a 420 special
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm efd:

thanks Sybil!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm efd:

if you created a Friendship Society profile and logged in you'd never have to answer another "math question" again (on this website).
  10:14pm Sybil:

@efd: almost worth creating another danged profile for that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm fleep:

Oh my.
  10:16pm cheri:

thanks evan for this great set!
  10:19pm cee dubbles:

I'm too 420'd to remember my 10 year mouse log in - but Maff ain't hard. Sitting thru this set is - I'm pogo-ing around the palace
Avatar 10:20pm Listener Sybil:

All right, efd, only for you would I create YET ANOTHER internet profile. Next you'll have me coming out to Jersey City as a volunteer during the marathon.

Wait, doesn't that require actual existence in a physical space?

I once lived in Jersey City... long ago...
  10:21pm -andrew-:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Stevel:

Do I have to be the first one to make the "Hookworm High" joke? "Hook 'em Worms!!!!"
  10:24pm JakeGould:

Getting on the PATH to Jersey City is easy. Getting to the PATH train might be a hassle though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm chris_in_space:

Been here all night, haven't said hello. Hello, and yes that was a great set by Hookworms.
Avatar 10:25pm Holly in NC:

@efd - Just noticed your 10:05 comment - NICE ;-)
@Sybil - Great to hear from you and the very important blinky things! So glad they are still under your good care.
Avatar 10:25pm Listener Sybil:

I used to have to commute on PATH four times a day, twice with my toddler son. I hoped it had gotten easier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Ike & the Head of a Dead Ram:

Sounds good!
Avatar 10:28pm Listener Sybil:

@ Holly in NC: I've missed the interactions here and none so much as yours. And that's my sentimental outpouring for the night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm efd:

I am duly humbled and honored, Sybil!
Avatar 10:38pm Listener Sybil:

I want to tell you all the story of how my son got an ear infection, and i had to take him to St Vincent's (which no longer exists) ER, and how we were not seen for hours (OK, gunshots, etc.) and how after all that I was stopped by a cop when I tried to enter the PATH train station (I was glad he checked, it was not too long after the whole Joel Steinberg thing) and when we got home in JC I just collapsed.

I've asked, my son has no memory at all of living in JC.

Whereas me, I remember every moment. I haven't told you the half of it.
Avatar 10:41pm Listener Sybil:

It was really hard to live in Jersey City then. 1908s
  10:43pm JakeGould:

The 1908s must have been horrible. With all the horses and steam engines.
Avatar 10:43pm Listener Sybil:

(Not trying to create a bummer. I'm just having a moment here.)

Reasons to be cheerful, part 3:
Avatar 10:44pm Listener Sybil:

Sorry, @JakeGould. I have a bit of dyslexia, on top of everything.
  10:46pm JakeGould:

No problem. I was like 12 years old in 1980 and still rode the subway on my own every now and then so the idea of me going to Jersey City in the 1980s on another train system would have freaked me out.
  10:47pm JakeGould:

I knew how to get on the D train in the center (conductor) car and then go some place, get off, run to where I had to go to, run back, get back on the D train and head home. NYC life in the 1980s.
Avatar 10:47pm Listener Sybil:

hey, @ jakegould, it freaked me out every single day and i was an adult.
  10:49pm JakeGould:

@ListenerSybil: Yeah, when I tell people I rode the NYC subway as a 12 year old kid they are stunned. But I wasn’t the only one. And honestly it was less creepy than NYC buses back then… My god the buses were vile!
Avatar 10:51pm Listener Sybil:

ALL: we're just enjoying a NYC eighties moment here. Although "enjoying" may not be the right word.
  10:52pm cheri:

efd, I got to take my leave tonight thanks again for that wild hookworms set! i'll see you in two weeks.
Avatar 10:52pm Listener Sybil:

@ efd: you may yet live to regret getting this mathematician past the "math problems". (I hope not.)
  10:53pm JakeGould:

@ListenerSybil: Ha! I only wish I knew kids who actually did fun stuff like go to “Danceteria” or “Mudd Club” back then. In deep Brooklyn the guido kids were mainly into going to “The Fun House” and that was not my scene. Like a disco version of the Insane Clown Posse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm efd:

not regretting it yet!
Avatar 10:57pm Listener Sybil:

I think @JakeGould and I are reliving something.... worth reliving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm fleep:

Speaking of the 80s, listen to those hooks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm steve:

hey efd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm efd:

watch the closing doors!
Avatar 10:59pm Listener Sybil:

@fleep: no doubt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm steve:

this is pretty badass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm efd:

hey steve, I was kinda hoping you were out there when I started this set! :)
  11:00pm BriJet:

Hey efd!!!
Avatar 11:01pm Holly in NC:

Like Umo Vogue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm Kat in Chicago:

Hey errybody. Got home too late for Hookworms, but not for the 80s synthy stuff, apparently!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm steve:

woo hoo. i just tuned in. ill catch the archive.

loved the recent W-whatever-the-Asbury-Park-station-call-letters-were show btw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm Stevel:

Loving Jake and Sybil's thread. City kids!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, efd and assembled citizens. I trust Hookworms will be archived, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm -andrew-:

Calling it a night. Had a very long drive today and it has finally caught up with me. Thanks for the excellent Hookworms set Evan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm efd:

yes it will be, Ken!

hi Kat & BriJet and any other recent commenteers I missed!
Avatar 11:05pm bobdoesthings:

Ive heard the name Giorgio Moroder before but never looked into him... so this is him?
  11:06pm JakeGould:

@steve: Thanks! Will be doing something with my memories come fall/winter. So hey… Stay tuned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- sitting here in NewHampshuh - I love learning about Thuh City. Regional stuff is kewl - like the club listings & weather reports from WWOZ N'Orleans, or traffic in LA from KCRW...
@bob: Worked w/ Donna Summer - kinda invented the whole thing...
Avatar 11:07pm Listener Sybil:

My kid is a city kid. I grew up in the (DC) suburbs, and hated every minute. I lived in Boston for a time (long ago) and it was good for me. I am constantly surprised by how much my kid identifies as NYC.
  11:07pm Danne D:

listening on the go - enjoying the show Evan :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm steve:

bob - Giorgio did HUGE disco stuff in the 70s like I Feel Love by Donna Summer. new album is very different from what he's known for.
  11:08pm Danne D:

hi bye everyone :)

hi bye Holly! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Kat in Chicago:

Giorgio played Pitchfork last year. Kind of. It was... odd. Still cool to see a bunch of indie kids go nuts for "I Feel Love."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Moroder wigkey: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 11:10pm bobdoesthings:

@steve/revrabb - cool, thanks
Avatar 11:11pm Listener Sybil:

Danne D... goodbye, yet I want it not to end. See you all next time, I hope! And my blinky things hope as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm steve:

that new Giorgio album is getting so brutally slammed by popular review sites for some reason... i loved that song we just heard tho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Stevel:

OMG. Tom's Diner. [sigh]
  11:14pm herb.nyc:

i found Serb record in trash, last wk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Kat in Chicago:

Ken played the title track. Wasn't terrible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm fleep:

Google "white manna" and you get hamburgers. This group needs better SEO.
  11:27pm JakeGould:

@fleep: You know who needs SEO advice? California punk group the Avengers… Because you know… Cool name in 1983, horrid SEO in 2015.
  11:29pm JakeGould:

Here is White Manna on Bandcamp. whitemanna.bandcamp.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm Ike:

...and as we noted over the weekend, the band Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. But they had to know that was a losing SEO proposition going in.
  11:35pm KP:

XL Kings sound great but more like queens
  11:39pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Still, a band named “Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret” is an amazing band name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Kat in Chicago:

One for the ladies from Harry Harrison
  11:43pm JakeGould:

Ahhhh, Hairy Harrison!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm steve:

being able to say you're in a band called Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret outweighs any potential negative consequences. im already tempted to just start telling people i'm in that band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Ike & the Head of a Dead Ram:

Ha ha, point taken.
  11:52pm JakeGould:

Just re-watched Pee Wee’s Big Adventure last night and I think a band named “Amazing Larry” would be nice.
Avatar 11:58pm bobdoesthings:

thanks efd !!!!!
  12:01am Alan:

White Manna, WOW!, Thank you, EFD for hipping me to that.
