Avatar 6:04am djsheilab:

Morning gang! Ok, so this isn't quite up to the Shangri Las original, but still sweet.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 6:05am Guido from Cologne:

Good morning Sheila!
I was about to ask:
Melancholy-section at the start?
(Original is by Shangri-Las .. right?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06am Adrian in London:

Morning! (It still is morning here)
Avatar 6:09am djsheilab:

Morning Adrian + Guido! Yes, a melancholic start, but brought in the Marcos Valle record to keep things chipper today!
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 6:13am Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember when this Smokey Robinson tune came out. Good morning, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15am ausmanx:

good evening, sheila... heard a new singer from Sydney this week who's channeling girl groups really beautifully, i think, and thought of your show! and they shot this video up the road from my house, which made me well disposed... www.youtube.com... good evening, listeners all
Avatar 6:16am djsheilab:

Morning Ken + Ausmanx! Thank you for the tip! I shall have a listen with my breakfast.
Avatar 6:19am djsheilab:

Coming up....a pop song about the environment.
  6:29am Cooh John:

Good morning djsheilab and all boom boomers.
Avatar 6:33am djsheilab:

Morning Cool John!
Avatar 6:36am pierre:

Morning Pierre!
  6:37am sugarwolf:

Hi hi hi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39am maestroso:

G'morning djsheilab, just arrived.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 6:43am Ken From Hyde Park:

Was the wedding you attended as sophisticated as this one, Sheila? youtu.be...
Avatar 7:00am djsheilab:

Hello Sugarwolf + Maestroso! I have a whole 7 minutes with this track. Not used to THAT much time.
Avatar 7:05am djsheilab:

I know what I'll do! Watch Ken's wedding clip. Holy christ! Actually there was a falling down the stairs incident, but not nearly as thrilling as that back-flip.
  7:08am P-90:

Great first hour, Sheila B!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am Adrian in London:

I love the way there's a comp called 80s Girlie Pop. You can picture the meeting, can't you?
"What shall we call it? What sort of music is it?"
[shrugs} "Dunno, it's sort of 80s Girlie Pop"
"That'll do!"
  7:10am Mark:

This Indian-ish track is kooky!
  7:11am Mark:

Janice Nicholls is even kookier (these are compliments btw)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am Adrian in London:

Ha! And she mentions Harry Secombe!
  7:14am P-90:

Hey, nice singing voice there
  7:17am fake leaf:

This is amazing! Love the doom bit!
Avatar 7:19am djsheilab:

Thanks P-90. I started singing and then regretted it immediately!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21am Adrian in London:

This Solveig track is great! Sheila, is the rest of the album as good? It's only three quid on Discogs...
Avatar 7:22am djsheilab:

@Adrian Yes! There's a song called "Gettogether" on there that is even better.
  7:23am P-90:

What's more perfect than Little Esther?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am Adrian in London:

Thanks. I'll take a punt, even though I never buy CDs any more.
Avatar 7:30am djsheilab:

Here ya go Adrian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am Adrian in London:

Listening to this makes me feel like I'm on a beach in the south of France rather than an office in Croydon! And for that I'm deeply grateful!
  7:38am Sue:

Wow this is a fun show! Great job Shiela B.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 7:40am Guido from Cologne:

all time fave!
  7:40am Mark:

Those people who didn't dig "Monkey's Uncle" were strictly squaresville.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 7:44am listener james from westwood:

Very glad to have the context and name of that "Beat Girl" track!
Avatar 7:49am djsheilab:

Thank you @Sue!
  7:54am impete:

Not enough Too short
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00am maestroso:

That Soley piece was really nice.
Avatar 8:08am Todd-o-phonic:

Speaking of B-sides, it took me about 10 years to flip over "Tainted Love" by Gloria Jones and discover the great girl group sounds therein. Sometimes the A-side is just so awesome that it takes awhile! In other news, that Doris Day 45 is sublime!
Avatar 8:11am pierre:

Corinne Charby was the missing part to make your show great to amazing !!! (french wise) :)
Avatar 8:12am flashback:

Good morning everyone.
  8:13am KP:

Good morning from the beautiful south
Avatar 8:13am djsheilab:

I don't have "Tainted Love" @todd : ( (Tears fall into tea cup)
Avatar 8:14am djsheilab:

Why thank you @Pierre! She has too many fab records. It was hard to choose.
Avatar 8:15am pierre:

she does… :) your show is so pleasant to listen to !
Avatar 8:15am Todd-o-phonic:

Sorry Sheila! I wasn't trying to rub it in. Honest!
Avatar 8:18am djsheilab:

This song is genius! So bizarre! Written by Jamie Carter herself!
  8:18am Sissophonic Cheryl:

Don't believe him Sheila, he's always bragging about his records! Great show!
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:19am Ken From Hyde Park:

Sheila, you might want to check the Hebrew calendar and see when Nachum might be on holiday. He sometimes has fill-ins, but sometimes JM in the AM takes a day off and you can broadcast over the FM airwaves.
Avatar 8:19am djsheilab:

Thank you for putting him in place @sissophonic cheryl!
Avatar 8:22am djsheilab:

Oooh good to know @ken. I will check.
Avatar 8:23am Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Okay, I admit it. But now I have a Jamie Carter 45 on the way!
Avatar 8:28am flashback:

Nice music.A mellow way to begin the day.Or in my case deal with not being able to fall asleep the night before.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:30am Guido from Cologne:

this is really 1980ies mainstream FM.
though spector/Nietzsche/Brill-Buiding references are obvious.
I was a fan in my teens but 1984 was too late.
Avatar 8:30am djsheilab:

Glad you're digging the show @flashback
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:31am Guido from Cologne:

Pink Floyd at first were unhappy to see their former sound engineer putting out floydian sounding albums of his own.
  8:31am KP:

If you see the Zombies, Blunstone does like the whole APP catalog. Between him and Argent, actual Zombie material comes in third
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:31am Ken From Hyde Park:

Gosh, another song I remember from the 80s. It's a trip down memory lane!
Avatar 8:32am flashback:

This is the first time I tuned in.I am retired and tend to stay up all night.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:32am Guido from Cologne:

Zombies are underrated.
Avatar 8:33am flashback:

I am usualy studing my eyelids at the time you are doing the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am Adrian in London:

Oh I only know the French version of this Jacqueline Taieb song.
Avatar 8:37am flashback:

The Zombies Oricles And Odosey(I think i have the title correct)from around 1969 is a very good album.
Avatar 8:38am flashback:

I know I horribly mispelled the album title.
  8:42am KP:

What a voice
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:44am Ken From Hyde Park:

Oh, dear. The last time I heard this Daisy Chainsaw was on Beavis & Butt-head.
  8:48am josh:

queen adreena is the name of the post-daisy chainsay band you're looking for
  8:48am josh:

chainsaw, even.
  8:50am KP:

Avatar 8:51am djsheilab:

Don't like this record @KP?
  8:52am KP:

I'm away but tuning in
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:53am Ken From Hyde Park:

You're going to return and find us all unsophisticated again. Have a good time on your break.
  8:55am P-90:

@DJ Sheila B: Enjoy your travels! I'll miss this show on the next two Tuesday mornings. Your first few shows were very good, right from Week 1, but the last few have been even better, really amazing. Thanks again, "see" you when you return!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- a Production both warm & cold is an interesting observation...
- I think perhaps if you play anything 'mainstream' on FMU - that got a lot of play/exposure elsewhere, you risk raising hackles, because we generally come here to get something else. Which of course raises the paradox of what 'FreeForm' means...
- also - Prog is polarizing - altho' we're Music Nerdy enuff you could maybe raise Parson's studio skill cred...
- Great program to wake up to - Cheers.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 8:56am Guido from Cologne:

Thank you for te entertainment Sheila!
Enjoyed very much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Zombies just announced their gonna tour Odessey.
Avatar 9:05am djsheilab:

Thank you everyone! I just discovered that the record that broke the needle is actually cracked. Gutted! See you all in 2 weeks.
