Morning gang! Ok, so this isn't quite up to the Shangri Las original, but still sweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05am
Guido from Cologne:

Good morning Sheila!
I was about to ask:
Melancholy-section at the start?
(Original is by Shangri-Las .. right?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06am
Adrian in London:

Morning! (It still is morning here)
Avatar 6:09am
djsheilab:

Morning Adrian + Guido! Yes, a melancholic start, but brought in the Marcos Valle record to keep things chipper today!

Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember when this Smokey Robinson tune came out. Good morning, all.
Avatar 6:15am

good evening, sheila... heard a new singer from Sydney this week who's channeling girl groups really beautifully, i think, and thought of your show! and they shot this video up the road from my house, which made me well disposed... www.youtube.com... good evening, listeners all

Was the wedding you attended as sophisticated as this one, Sheila? youtu.be...
Avatar 7:00am
djsheilab:

Hello Sugarwolf + Maestroso! I have a whole 7 minutes with this track. Not used to THAT much time.
Avatar 7:05am
djsheilab:

I know what I'll do! Watch Ken's wedding clip. Holy christ! Actually there was a falling down the stairs incident, but not nearly as thrilling as that back-flip.

P-90:

Great first hour, Sheila B!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am
Adrian in London:

I love the way there's a comp called 80s Girlie Pop. You can picture the meeting, can't you?
"What shall we call it? What sort of music is it?"
[shrugs} "Dunno, it's sort of 80s Girlie Pop"
"That'll do!"

This Indian-ish track is kooky!

Janice Nicholls is even kookier (these are compliments btw)!

This Solveig track is great! Sheila, is the rest of the album as good? It's only three quid on Discogs...
Avatar 7:22am
djsheilab:

@Adrian Yes! There's a song called "Gettogether" on there that is even better.

Listening to this makes me feel like I'm on a beach in the south of France rather than an office in Croydon! And for that I'm deeply grateful!

Todd-o-phonic:

Speaking of B-sides, it took me about 10 years to flip over "Tainted Love" by Gloria Jones and discover the great girl group sounds therein. Sometimes the A-side is just so awesome that it takes awhile! In other news, that Doris Day 45 is sublime!
Avatar 8:11am

Corinne Charby was the missing part to make your show great to amazing !!! (french wise) :)

Don't believe him Sheila, he's always bragging about his records! Great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am

Sheila, you might want to check the Hebrew calendar and see when Nachum might be on holiday. He sometimes has fill-ins, but sometimes JM in the AM takes a day off and you can broadcast over the FM airwaves.
Avatar 8:19am
djsheilab:

Thank you for putting him in place @sissophonic cheryl!

Oooh good to know @ken. I will check.

Okay, I admit it. But now I have a Jamie Carter 45 on the way!

Nice music.A mellow way to begin the day.Or in my case deal with not being able to fall asleep the night before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am
Guido from Cologne:

this is really 1980ies mainstream FM.
though spector/Nietzsche/Brill-Buiding references are obvious.
I was a fan in my teens but 1984 was too late.
Avatar 8:30am
djsheilab:

Glad you're digging the show @flashback
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31am

Pink Floyd at first were unhappy to see their former sound engineer putting out floydian sounding albums of his own.

If you see the Zombies, Blunstone does like the whole APP catalog. Between him and Argent, actual Zombie material comes in third
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31am

Gosh, another song I remember from the 80s. It's a trip down memory lane!

@DJ Sheila B: Enjoy your travels! I'll miss this show on the next two Tuesday mornings. Your first few shows were very good, right from Week 1, but the last few have been even better, really amazing. Thanks again, "see" you when you return!
Avatar 8:56am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- a Production both warm & cold is an interesting observation...
- I think perhaps if you play anything 'mainstream' on FMU - that got a lot of play/exposure elsewhere, you risk raising hackles, because we generally come here to get something else. Which of course raises the paradox of what 'FreeForm' means...
- also - Prog is polarizing - altho' we're Music Nerdy enuff you could maybe raise Parson's studio skill cred...
- Great program to wake up to - Cheers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am

Thank you for te entertainment Sheila!
