TIME is the topic of today (and everyday of our lives when u think about it)……..If I could control time, and time travel I would go back a few years and spend one more quality day with my dad…….then I would go back and visit others dear to my heart who have passed on…..BUt then I would start time traveling to meet all my other heroes…..like zap back to 1981 to meet up with Bambaataa or 73 to meet up with Kool Herc (both previous guests - recent era - on this show)

Billy Jam:

so with TIME being the topic O day - I ask you A: does time run faster now for you than few years ago? Do you value time more now? If you could time travel where/when would you go?
Avatar 3:17pm
Billy Jam:

OH yeah I'd go back to when I first started out in radio in early 80's when the FCC wasmnt so damn restrictive…..no curses edits needed in 1984

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
chris:

i def value time more now that i did last year or back even further. and it does seem to move a bit faster all the time. going back in time to spend more time with my pa would be awesome. i spend a lot of time these days trying to run toward what i value, rather than running away from what scares me, as i did in my youth
Avatar 3:20pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

A. Yes time goes too fast these days. I feel like last week I was 18 but that was three years ago and now I'm an old maid.
B: Yes I value time more now because I don't have much youth left.
C: No question, I would visit the 60s and possibly stay there forever. I just wasn't made for these times, man. *takes bong hit*
  3:21pm
loop skywalker:

Man,time actually is going way faster now im old.Id love time to stand still right now because my son is getting too close to that horrible time when he may fly the nest (he is 15 but university is only 3 years away) i do everything i do now to spend as much time as i can with him as he is my absolute number 1..so yeah,,,a time freezing machine for me please Billy Jam .
Avatar 3:22pm
Cecile:

Bronwyn, I didn't listen when people told me that when I was 21, but you really are still young.

And a wise old DJ bud told me, "the era you are in is the era you're in."
Avatar 3:23pm
Billy Jam:

@ Loop -yeah right? - like summers rush by if u don't stop and embrace em…..we just passed the halfway mark in this show's summer series…..TIME……I love ya but u pass so fast…TIME
Avatar 3:23pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

Thanks Cecile. I feel old because us women are generally told we're at our most attractive when we're 17-19. I still felt like a child then. And in a lot of ways I'm glad I'm around now and not then, because back in my beloved 60s I probably would have ended up a housewife. I still romanticize them, though.
  3:24pm
Benny in BK:

I sure value more time now than when I was a kid.....I value life so much I sleep less....will do that when I'm dead LOL

@Ben: I will be up your way at the end of August. Dropping the kid off at college. Gonna rattle Tony Coulter's cage, too.

Sweet! Hopefully by then we'll have a bit more hospitable temperatures. High of 101 today, with a hot wind. Just been nasty this year.

great mix ADA - thanks for creating this for WFMU - we appreciate it mane~ >>>>>
So the plan for tonight is that I record the set at Elbo Room by The Genie (the "scratch guitar" pioneer that was live performance guest on this show before) - maybe some other acts sets too…..And upcoming next week - with curation assistance from SF emcee/activist Dregs One am planning a live cypher session with (tentatively) Telli Prego, Richie Cunning, and Lightbulb along with Dregs plus (maybe) his buddy DJ Yelir from Children of the Funk laying down some wicked beats down. In this scenario I would record (that way I can edit out curses before airplay) - only six weeks left in this 3 hour series

Time keeps going slower the older I get, because I keep getting better at savoring what isn't coming back, and ignoring the bad. So I guess I value time more, but in a different way, it's no longer a resource, just opportunities. If I could time travel, I'd go to the future, because the one thing I'd like to witness is equality (especially gender equality). We've made progress, but we're still so far I'm not going to see that day without a time machine
