I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

A clicky-star for Gilbert and Lewis
Avatar 3:29am

Bruce Gilbert rules. Rules my world, anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am
fred:

Dodoitsu was short but nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44am
Rob W:

The Brion Gysin track was lovely - I gather (from quick research) it's Gysin's recording of Jajouka trance ritual in Morocco. Note to self: it would make a nice segue with some of the Malaysian tribal music I just heard in Sarawak - also very cyclical percussion with fiddle.
Avatar 3:44am
Mayuko:

Yah, Dodoitsu is like a song version of Haiku, but 7-7-7-5 syllable instead of 5-7-5. That's why they are short.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47am
fred:

French translation time:
"la couronne du roi" means "the king's crown"
"Jeu au clair de lune" means "game by moonlight"
"Il y a des nuits et des nuits" means either "there are nights and there are nights" (as in good and bad ones, for instance) or "nights and nights ago", depending on tone and context
Avatar 3:48am
Mayuko:

Rob! I'm so excited to have you tuned in!!!
Avatar 3:52am
Mayuko:

oh thank you fred!! I had no idea. But actually those titles make perfect sense to me in this flow I got for this show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53am
fred:

And "let's triste again" is a pun on "let's twist again", with "triste" meaning "sad"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03am
fred:

You said that track name pretty well, and I know that "roi" is tricky

Good morning , Mayuko!

Berg:

sounds like an interesting aviary there
Avatar 4:36am
Mayuko:

ohh, does that word mean like a big cage for birds and plants, Berg? I love that image!
Avatar 4:38am
Berg:

Yes it does, Mayuko ^^
Avatar 4:40am
Berg:

The whistling sounds and the echoing space made it sound so much larger than a plain cage, so I thought of an aviary instead
Avatar 4:43am
Mayuko:

It did! I was walking around a little bit in the library here during that track, and I felt like there were only some strange creatures and myself in the whole building.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44am
fred:

Thanks Mayuko! This great show made me just late enough to be at home when the postman rang. Swagmas! I'll catch the rest (and your previous show) on the archives

I have a peculiar fascination with animal sounds in song. Liking this very much,
Avatar 4:51am
Mayuko:

Maybe you simply like animal sounds, Doug. I heard you reacting very happily to your dog barking on your show.
Avatar 4:55am
Berg:

"animal sounds in songs - real or imaginary" sounds like an interesting theme
  4:56am
Doug Schulkind:

Ha! I should give the dog her own show. Of course, my cats would then hate me.
Avatar 4:57am
Berg:

your show is a bit like an auditory rorsach test, Mayuko ;)
Avatar 4:58am
Mayuko:

a real Pet Sounds show!
  4:58am
ratty:

"arf arf arf, arf arf arf, arf arf, arf, arf arf" the barking dogs?
Avatar 4:59am
Mayuko:

Berg, maybe I should adopt that for the description of my show. I have nothing yet.
Avatar 5:00am
Berg:

_rorschach_.. never managed to write it correctly.. not even trying to say it
Avatar 5:01am
Berg:

well "pet sounds" is an album from the Beach Boys
Avatar 5:06am
Berg:

your "Katsoura Mouri" sounded much less hesitant than "Wenn Schöne Augen Traurig Blicken ", Mayuko ;)
  5:11am
Doug Schulkind:

"Some kind of Bryce weird noise." We all understand completely, Mayuko.
