Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Another Union Square Park show. It may seema s if I haven't been particularly creative about the location(s) for the show. In recent months (years?) I've done a lot of interviews in Union Square and at Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. They are both close to our loft. These days I generally get off work on Tuesday or Wednesday and I walk down to the park hoping to snag maybe an hours worth of interview footage. It's a good location all-in-all. It skews pretty young. Lots of oddballs (I say, affectionately) punks, chess players, drug addicts, conversationalists, Hari Krishna-enthusiasts, hacky-sackers, b-boys, preachers, folk musicians, chalk artists, kale salesmen --- I dream of desert shows, out and amongst the rocks and cacti ... in the company of the scorpion and the burning sun ... a solitary crow for a companion. Ol' Joe. Some jerky. Ample water. A casette of Mahavihshnu's Birds of Fire. Extra batteries. Eventually I would encounter an old-school Dairy Queen™.
John Hall | Nu Toone | Action | Columbia | 1970 | LP | A sentimental old childhood favorite. Discovering the magic of ON SALE $2 LPs. Lost this one for years. Bought it on EBAY. The memories came flooding back. | 0:12:21 (Pop-up)

Flint | One of Me | Flint | Columbia | 1978 | MP3 | Don Brewer, Mel Schacher, Craig Frost of Grand Funk ... without Mark Farner. GFR Was from Flint, MI ---- An album I've been meaning to check out forever, but just got around to it. I was a big Grand Funk fan. How far can you throw a 6" comb? | 0:32:31 (Pop-up)

Flash | 10,000 Movies | Featuring Ray Bennett and Colin Carter | Purple Pyramid | 2013 | Minidisc | Classic '70's British prog band. The late Peter Banks started Flash when he left Yes. He was asked to participate on this record, but declined. Flash bassist, Ray Bennett, takes over the guitar duties here. Colin Carter on vocals. New drummer and keyboardist. Made me happy to see some old prog warriors do something new. More power to them!
