Avatar 10:46am PKNY:

My father-in-law, brother-in-law, and nephew are all named Pierre. So I'm feeling right at home.

And a major co-sign on the Pharoah. I cheated on WFMU and listened to WKCR's 5 hour tribute to him a few weeks back, so so good.
Avatar 10:48am Cheri Pi:

Yo Cecile!
Avatar 11:00am Cecile:

Avatar 11:00am Cecile:

Avatar 11:13am Cecile:

I hated reggae until I heard this. Brilliant. It's still not my favorite, but I appreciate it more.
Avatar 11:15am pierre:

I didn't like reggae until I discovered the early stuff, then I went straight to the heavy dub
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Stevel:

No better reggae than Burning Spear.
Avatar 11:17am Cecile:

Love ska, early reggae, dub. Mainstream reggae not so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Stevel:

Saw Steel Pulse, back in the day. Younger band at the time. Quite good.
Avatar 11:21am Cecile:

yeah, they had some excellent songs.
Avatar 11:22am Cecile:

aswad, steel pulse, Linton Kwesi Johnson, lots of excellent British reggae artists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I call it the good stuff & then the 'tourist' Reggae...or maybe there's 'trust-fund' Reggae...
Avatar 11:34am pierre:

ooooooh … that's sweet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am SeanG:

Avatar 11:38am Cecile:

Avatar 11:40am Cecile:

okay, Marty, did you freak out like I did when Courtney Act showed up in a Klaus Nomi-inspired outfit on Drag Race?
Avatar 11:42am Cecile:

I guess Courtney also did "you don't own me" in drag on the first season of Australian Idol.
Avatar 11:42am Cecile:

They rejected him as a guy in auditions, but he made the show in his girl drag!
Avatar 11:47am Polyus:

Way late, but. . .hell yeah, Slug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Stevel:

How did I step out and miss Klaus? Sigh.

[digging out Urrrgh: A Music War DVD]
