Good morning, Bob and fellow music enthusiasts.

Entrancing out of the gate. Gate covered w/ baroque intoxicating vines, methinks. Good Saturday all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hendrix on this Little Richard?
  9:14am joe!:

lady in the morning-very fine choice, bob
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am melinda:

Morning! Always nice to start a Saturday w/Sandy.
  9:29am joe!:

it would take a heart of stone not to smile at that bill haley number
9:40am David in ATL from NJ:

A warning to all listeners with large music collections.

Don't let your music room get cluttered. Put every album or cd back in their place after you are done listening to it. I've been lazy for years and I'm paying the price. Cleaning up my music room has been a real fiasco. Not finding things that I know I have. Many, many hours of time consuming work. I'm finally almost done and I vow to not let this happen again.

Trust me on this.
9:41am David in ATL from NJ:

Bob, it started when I found out I had that Kinks Village Green Preservation Society box set and did not know I even had it in my collection.
  9:45am joe!:

bob, jeff beck fans appreciate you for showing the old 'technician' some love-thx
  9:48am Stuart Rose:

David,
Often I envy you guys who've amassed these endless collections of music, all nook and crannish with odd delights.
And then I think of the space nightmare and the presence of mind needed to keep things in order, and I'm really grateful I can tap the iPad on Saturday and get Bob's collection sounding in my ears hassle free.
  9:48am P-90:

"I'm a Man", all-time classic that it is, still sounds even better when followed by the "Great Shakes" spot.
Avatar 9:54am Utopiast:

Great set this morning, Bob. Thanks much.
  9:54am P-90:

OK, so who's on guitar here with Norvo? Tal Farlow? Or?..
9:55am David in ATL from NJ:

@ Stuart: It is madness. I'm old school. Simply love the artwork, etc. Mentally, I'm a little Monk-ish (TV show) so clutter in the music room drives me insane.

The reason why it has been years since I've been in the room as I too usually listen to WFMU 100% of my listening time and I kind of let things slide.
  9:57am Layet Johnson:

Yeah Bob, good set!
  9:57am EB:

Wow! Party Secombe! Have not heard it in decades. Thanks!
9:59am David in ATL from NJ:

Killin' it this morning, Bob!

I'm confused. Jim Dickenson was born in 1941.

Love Billie Holiday in the morning...Great music selections!
Avatar 10:12am David Shortell:

I recently saw this documentary about the Norton Juster/Jules Feiffer book, filmed half a century after it was published!

  10:13am Stuart Rose:

Party Secombe must be a reference to Harry Secombe from the Goon Show.
  10:16am Ned Wiki:

Wooooah neat song. WFMU never ends.
  10:16am P-90:

Ah, the ubiquitous Barney Kessel! Thanks Bob.
Norvo was a brilliant, influential musician, and also notable for playing with an a amazing succession of the very best guitarists in his various combos over the years.
"The Phantom Tollbooth" is an animated feature directed by Chuck Jones, adapted from an absolutely brilliant "young adult's" novel by the one and only Jules Feiffer(!) -and well worth reading at any age...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Uncle Michael:

Bob, I think you confused Jim with his son, Luther. Jim absolutely produced Beale Street Saturday Night.
  10:20am joe!:

debussy--wow, did not see that coming--beautiful
  10:20am P-90:

@David Shortell: thanks for the link, I don't think I've seen this documentary, I'll check it out.
Avatar 10:22am Bob Brainen:

YES! Of course Jim Dickinson-now it makes sense. Thanks for that, U.M. / Hey all!
Avatar 10:26am David Shortell:

Wonderwall can be watched online, probably for a limited time.

Avatar 10:34am Utopiast:

Thanks for the Linda Ronstadt/Stone Poneys selection. She will send me soaring for the rest of the day. THE VOICE......
Avatar 10:42am David Shortell:

@P-90
Monmouth University screened it last fall, around the time I read the newly released "Kill My Mother", which the publishers touted as Feiffer's first graphic novel (Didn't 1979's "Tantrum" count?).
  10:49am Michael Hurlbert:

Roy Byrd, aka Professor Longhair, no?
  10:51am Stuart Rose:

Bob, the Jazz selections this morning are perfect. As usual, everything is interwoven so naturally. Brainen the sonic weaver.
  10:53am mike east:

Late to comment but listening all morning. Dug that version of 13 women. Thanks for the tunes bob
Avatar 10:59am David Shortell:

Hearing "Thirteen Women" always reminds me of this scene from Luchino Visconti's "White Nights".
Go, Marcello, go!
