Hey Jesse and e'rybody!

Jesse, I didn't catch your guest's name. You should post it on the playlist. Enjoying the Monkees stuff so far.

Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks for this Monkees set.
  12:48am
rw:

My friend Llyn has a funny story about a stoned Peter Tork melting her coffee pot. I wish I could remember the details... mostly funny because of the way she tells it though.
  12:50am
P-90:

rw: Does the friend keep the melted coffeepot as a souvenir of the occasion?
  12:53am
rw:

haha, I don't think she has it any more. Would be a great souvenir!
  12:53am
P-90:

There must be one Petwr Tork anecdote in which he is NOT stoned. Haven't heard it yet, it's the elusive Great White Whale of Tork Stories...

rw: I would have kept that sucker forever. But that's me, I don't collect things others would collect, but an oddball artifact like that...
  12:55am
rw:

Wow. Thanks fleep! I need to watch that.

P-90 I think I'm with you there. My friend Philo has Miles Davis' Tupperware OJ container. I'm a little jealous of that one though his wife finds it kind of disgusting.

Frank Zaatar:

I saw the 33 1/3 special first time around. I don't even remember missing the Oscars. It was kind of a hoot.
  1:07am
P-90:

I remember watching the special in 1969, I was 8 years old, and i remember thinking: too bad, this is kind of unfocussed and mediocre. The next day at school, all the eight- and nine-year old boys were talking about how it was a let-down, unfocussed and mediocre. Not that we were so terribly precocious and jaded: but we were THE target audience, and the target audience knows the difference between a bulls-eye and a near miss.
  1:11am
P-90:

Actually, I think programming the Monkees against the Oscars was a smart move, the kids in that generation didn't necessarily want to sit through the Oscars with their parents. And the parents had no interest in the Momkees.,.
  1:16am
P-90:

The real gem is the 1997 Monkees reunion TV special, which was brilliant, everything the Monkees themselves knew the fans could have hoped for. But it never went out on a DVD, and doesn't receive the attention it deserves. OK, I'll shut up about the Monkees now.
  1:16am
Frank Zaatar:

Yeah, I was 15 and way too freaky (in my own mind, of course) for the Monkees. But I gave them props for the guest stars. I think it was the first time I saw Fats Domino on TV.

Holy crap, I wish I had been to all these shows! Where did I put that time-machine??...

Yes, thanks Scott, it's been quite a cornucopia of delights. There's literally no other radio station that routinely produces programming like this. You rule!

Listening to the Monkees set now! Luv it. I'm surprised that no one had played "Apples, Peaches" yet, it's a sweet Boyce & Hart jam.
