Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am pacific standard simon:

I don't remember Devo rocking like that.
  12:03am JakeGould:

Hello Therese! Happy Labor Day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am pacific standard simon:

24 hours labor is not something I'd wish on anyone.
Avatar 12:05am (Eyepatch) Fox:

Hooray, a song that encapsulates my feeling towards this hide inside away from daylight social activity holiday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05am fleep:

Wormwood by itself is readily available and I take it before bedtime. It promotes digestion, rids the innards of parasites, and makes for some dandy dreams.
  12:06am JakeGould:

@fleep: I knew a superiority complex addled dolphin would have something to say about wormwood. Bet you eat fondue as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am pacific standard simon:

"They smelt of pubs, and Wormwood Scrubs."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Ken From Hyde Park:

Labor Day Dance Party 2015! Let's go!
Hi, Therese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am pacific standard simon:

Tripping bells again, yargh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09am fleep:

Greetings, Therese, the wormwood thing is leftover from previous comments, where I lurked in fear of my life as volleys of accusations and denials whooshed overhead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09am Therese:

  12:12am JakeGould:

@fleep: Don’t worry. Only one target was in that comment list…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am pacific standard simon:

Fleep is quite right about the alleged benefits of wormwood tea, and also the caution one might want to exercise in coming anywhere near the c**** wars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am pacific standard simon:

Gang Of Four still rules OK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am pacific standard simon:

Hugo's drumming is so messed up.
Avatar 12:21am BadGuyZero:

BLERG! I overslept.
  12:21am sugarwolf:

  12:24am JakeGould:

@BadGuyZero: Hello! And we’ll all oversleep when we die, so hey!

@sugarwolf: Hello!
  12:25am johnk77:

  12:26am Neal:

what is the music you're speaking over?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am pacific standard simon:

Therese, you sound like you're channeling Catwoman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am coelacanth:

good morning Therese and you all
Avatar 12:27am BadGuyZero:

@Neal: "Pling" by Shuggie Otis.
  12:28am Neal:

thank you :)
Avatar 12:29am BadGuyZero:

Bumped into a planter, I know, I know, it’s serious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am pacific standard simon:

Put an Ace bandage on it.
  12:30am sugarwolf:

I closed my car door on myself somehow and got a scab and gross bruise on the back of my leg two weeks ago
Avatar 12:31am Jeff:

"I don't have ringworm, but it looks that way."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am pacific standard simon:

Have a danish.
Avatar 12:31am BadGuyZero:

Ringworm > tapeworm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Philthy woman:

oh, motherpushres! hate those scab makin mothers. Glad that's all though. your right could be worse,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Ken From Hyde Park:

Could be worse. Luckily, you don't need arthroscopic knee surgery like some people.
Avatar 12:32am BadGuyZero:

You're turntable turned into Turntable #3.
  12:33am JakeGould:

“Inherent Vice” sounded like more pompous than it needed to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am pacific standard simon:

For tapeworm, have some wormwood.
Avatar 12:34am BadGuyZero:

BLERG! I not so good with English.

You're = your.
Avatar 12:34am BadGuyZero:

Donald Trump is going to kick me out of the U.S.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good time to play some Hookworms, maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am pacific standard simon:

Radio afterhours rules apply for English useage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am Philthy woman:

missing your turntable , for you . and mine for me. These things happen and in the mean time I guess we try out outher shit- not neccisarily the worst, But god damn aint nothing like a record you love on a turn table- no substitute
Avatar 12:37am BadGuyZero:

*ugh* Just found out that Fred Cole collapsed onstage during Dead Moon's set at Bumbershoot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am coelacanth:

i'm trying that wormwood tonight. i've never taken it except with breakfast. i'll report back tomorrow if i make it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am pacific standard simon:

If you just need a good digestif, go with licorice tea instead.
  12:43am JakeGould:

@PSS: I don’t drink anymore but sometimes take a teaspoon of bitters to act as a “digestif.”
  12:44am Neal:

this prince is tight. love your set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am pacific standard simon:

@BadGuyZero - That guy is pushing his luck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am pacific standard simon:

@Jake - I prefer my bitters with rye and sweet vermouth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Philthy woman:

sweets to all -g'nigh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am fleep:

Bitters stimulate bile production. The bitter taste allegedly activates the vagus nerve. Kale works, too.
  12:52am JakeGould:

@fleep: What happens in the vagus nerve, stays in the vagus nerve.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am coelacanth:

pss i take it to kill &/or prevent parasites...but i'm trying it tonight because i read what fleep said about dandy dreams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am coelacanth:

(i also take licorice root already, but again not for my digestion.)
  12:54am JakeGould:

I chew anise seeds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am coelacanth:

fleep -i took "swedish bitters" for a while. it didn't seem to do anything; but i think it's because i was already eating lots of bitter greens and sour foods.
(...and my digestion wasn't bad,so i don't know what i was hoping for)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am pacific standard simon:

@fleep - Do G&Ts work? 'Cause I love tonic.
Avatar 1:01am BadGuyZero:

That Magas cover reminds me of Scorpions' "Blackout" but with sports cars instead of forks.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am fleep:

@pss Well, you won't get malaria, that's for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am pacific standard simon:

Still haven't read or seen Inherent Vice, although it's on my Kindle. Have to see if it's on Amazon Prime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am fleep:

fish, I had a hunch you used wormwood when you mentioned colloidal silver. Parasites are icky to think about but a lot of people have them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am Philthy woman:

ever see the film 'dandy dust'? was pretty dreamy- in the theatre. Not received well though- many walked out- and demanded their $ back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08am pacific standard simon:

I can only imagine what a movie of Gravity's Rainbow would look like -- preferably with a screenplay by Mike Mignola.
Avatar 1:10am BadGuyZero:

"Seems like everybody is going to the Ponderosa Stomp this year" sounds like the premise of a Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney movie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am pacific standard simon:

Cue the "Ride Of The Valkyries" for the Fall schedule...
Avatar 1:11am BadGuyZero:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am pacific standard simon:

If he has no Rowdy Roddy Piper memories, then he has nothing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am coelacanth:

fleep- everyone has parasites; it's just a matter of when & how it affects each of us. i have no acute symptoms from them, but i want to take precautions...especially because i've eaten lots of raw fish in my life.
the silver is for lyme. (another parasite) & my primary defense against parasites is diatomaceous earth.
  1:17am sugarwolf:

Into the Woods was one of the musicals we did in high school so I am sure I would remember all the songs if I saw the movie.
Avatar 1:17am BadGuyZero:

I think I met my lifetime quota of Meryl Streep singing when I saw "Mama Mia" whenever it was in theaters.
  1:17am sugarwolf:

Ethan Mordden is working on a Sondheim book and I CAN'T WAIT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am pacific standard simon:

@BadGuyZero - You did that voluntarily?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am Therese:

Oh, right! I forgot about Mamma Mia. I think everyone involved just did it for the Greek vacation.
  1:21am JakeGould:

@BadGuyZero: All men have the “dude/bro” exemption from musicals even if you are not a dude or a bro. Don’t squander your rights!
Avatar 1:22am BadGuyZero:

I love musicals. I did not love "Mama Mia."
  1:24am sugarwolf:

Christine Baranski was wearing a dress that we later had in my store (well not the exact dress) in Mamma Mia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am pacific standard simon:

I have seen Assassins performed live twice, so I can die fairly happy, but a Sondheim bio would be nice.
  1:25am JakeGould:

@Therese: “I think everyone involved just did it for the Greek vacation.” You know what a great book would be? Actors/actresses being blunt and honest about why they did certain films. Like I remember some Jeff Garlin interview where he bluntly said, “I worked for 2 weeks and got paid $50,000. Why would I say no to that?”
Avatar 1:27am BadGuyZero:

@JakeGould: I always assume that the balloon payment on their house was due.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am pacific standard simon:

Didn't Diana Rigg do something like that? No Turn Unstoned?

  1:29am JakeGould:

@BadGuyZero: Yeah, but I want to know specifics. Like after that Sony hack leak execs were blunt about questioning why they fund/finance Adam Sandler films. I don’t want to know about that “why” but rather I would like to hear Rob Schneider say, “Hey, thanks to that 3 week Sandler shoot I now own this horse!” I mean that happens… The chance of anyone being that glib and still working in the business is zilch, but I still want to know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am fleep:

Money. Free trips. Craft service donuts. The chance to shtup a costar.
  1:31am JakeGould:

@fleep: Yeah, like a positive—and more factually accurate—version of “Hollywood Babylon.”
  1:32am JakeGould:

@pacificstandardsimon: Now that is a spicy meatball!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am Therese:

I would read an entire series of 33-1/3 sized books on actors doing it for the money.
Avatar 1:33am (Eyepatch) Fox:

Wait. So, Coelacanth: Colloidal silver helps fight Lyme Disease?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am pacific standard simon:

It's easy to make fun of The Cure, but it's harder to respect what's good about them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am pacific standard simon:

If you take colloidal silver, you might also want this link:

  1:40am JakeGould:

@Therese: “I would read an entire series of 33-1/3 sized books on actors doing it for the money.” How about a VHS T-90 series of books? I mean, why not.
  1:43am JakeGould:

@(Eyepatch) Fox: Stuff like that supposedly absorb toxins in the gut. I occasionally take a tablespoon of Bentonite clay—comes from various manufacturers—which is volcanic clay that absorbs toxins in the gut and let your digestive system poop them out. It works well, but you need to be careful. If you take too much of it and at the wrong times—like if you take meds—it absorbs the meds and nutrients. So you need to make sure you are like 1-2 hours out of eating food or meds to take it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am pacific standard simon:

Um, because there IS an entire series of 33-1/3 books? I suspect the confusing word there is "sized".
  1:48am JakeGould:

@PSS: Make the books the size of a VHS tape. Maybe Beta for the extra obscure stuff.
Avatar 1:50am BadGuyZero:

A few days ago I was thinking Elaine Stritch probably would have been a great Auntie Mame and took to the interwebs to see if she had ever played the role. She did not. But she did portray Vera in a touring production. Judy Garland had wanted to be part of said touring production, but there were concerns about her reliability due to her alcoholism. So Judy and Elaine came up with a plan to try to make it work. Whoever was drunker on a given day would portray Vera and the other would be Mame. Judy didn't get the part, but that's a great story.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am pacific standard simon:

I'd like to see a series of books, 7" square, each devoted to a single 45 RPM record,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am pacific standard simon:

That's a good story, BadGuyZero.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58am pacific standard simon:

I'd like to see one about "Strawberry Fields Forever", but I bet there's a lot of other interesting chapbooks that could be produced. Maybe The Velvet Underground's "All Tomorrow's Parties".
  1:59am JakeGould:

@PSS: What about 8-track books that are basically endless “Choose Your Own Adventure” tales of stoner bands from that 8-track era. You need to know 8-track format to appreciate that.
Avatar 2:01am Joe B:

Hi Therese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05am Therese:

Hello Joe!
Avatar 2:05am BadGuyZero:

There used to be a music fanzine - I don't recall if it was North Texas-based or not - called 8-Track Gazette that was cut so that it was the same shape as an 8-track cassette. It was a little larger than an 8-track.
Avatar 2:05am Joe B:

Jake, the chapters of the 8 track book would have to end in mid-sentence and change to the next chapter
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06am pacific standard simon:

@JakeGould - Deep Purple's Machine Head would be your start. 8 track about the same size as VHS.
Avatar 2:06am Joe B:

I gotta check out that Aquadolls album
Avatar 2:10am BadGuyZero:

I want a Monster Magnet choose-your-own-adventure book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am pacific standard simon:

The 8-track history book conceived as a loose-leaf binder.
  2:13am JakeGould:

@Joe B: “Jake, the chapters of the 8 track book would have to end in mid-sentence and change to the next chapter.” BINGO!!!!
  2:15am JakeGould:

@BadGuyZero: Yeah, but in my mind I do not want to mimic just the shape/size of an 8-track but also the maddening format quirks as well.
  2:16am JakeGould:

“The recording of [album name] was hampered when [drugs/alcohol/women] came into play and a new [drummer] had to be chosen.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am fleep:

There has to be a mechanism that chews up a bunch of pages while you're trying to read the 8-track book.
  2:16am rw:

We had bikes in my town for a moment. They installed a bunch of bikes and racks, did zero promotion, nobody rode them and they took them away. Seems like they were operational for less time than it took them to install the things. One rack even went in about a day before the program was scrapped. I think it was there for less than a week.
  2:17am JakeGould:

@fleep: Yeah! There you go!

@rw: Where was that bike effort installed/purged?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18am Ken From Hyde Park:

If you leave the books in the car in the hot sun, they degrade badly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am coelacanth:

(Eyepatch)Fox [if you're still here- 'sorry!], silver is an anti-bacterial. it MAY also be anti-lyme and clinically proves to be anti-fungal. i would not use it for lyme except as part of a more multi-faceted strategy.
it is safe, but as pss eluded to @1:40,it may permanently affect your appearance. (funny, pss!)
silver is not purported to absorb anything. a quality product contains only silver and pure water. it just kills;it doesn't absorb or expel. Jake's idea of taking clay, which does absorb toxins is a good idea though. (but not for lyme)
  2:19am rw:

Fullerton, CA

Avatar 2:20am BadGuyZero:

@JakeGould: That means that every few books there would have to be one that has a chapter that repeats at the end to fill out the page count.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am pacific standard simon:

@fleep - I've already found that, while trying to peruse internet porn.
  2:22am JakeGould:

@rw: Yeesh. When cities do that kind of stuff where they offer one thing and then pull it back, it smells like a barrel of pork.
  2:23am JakeGould:

@BadGuyZero: Yup. Exactly. Printed books are dying and we live in the digital age. So a novelty/art book inspired by 8-track flaws—like one on Deep Purple’s “Machine Head”—is something I would be into.
  2:25am rw:

Oh, here's an article about the failure... http://voiceofoc.org/2015/01/transportation-authority-backpedals-on-bike-share-project/

Seems like they didn't know what they were doing when they implemented the bike project.

Hopefully the Jersey City program works better.
  2:28am JakeGould:

@rw: “Hopefully the Jersey City program works better.” One can hope and Jersey City is in better shape now than before, but remember folks… Jersey City is in New Jersey and that’s all she wrote!
Avatar 2:29am (Eyepatch) Fox:

Actually, I've long hoed for a reason to take colloidal silver for the added benefit of blue skin! That would look amazingly rad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am coelacanth:

damn- i was away too long. it took a while to figure out what the hell you guys were talking about!
- but did anyone mention that the 8-track book would have no front or back covers? (the first page immediately follows the last)
  2:34am rw:

The longer chapters in the 8-track book fade out at some point, rewind a little and then fade in again.
Avatar 2:34am Joe B:

this is great!
  2:37am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Also, all the books in the series would be the same shape and format… But the cover was clued on with crappy glue and will fall off after like 2-3 summer/fall/winter/spring cycles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am coelacanth:

right! ...and i thought someone mentioned loose-leaf binder format. Perfect!- a really cheap one so the pages often dont line up neatly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42am coelacanth:

..i don't know who's taking credit or who's going to move on it, but i'd buy those!
  2:43am rw:

Therese, your show's getting kind of jammy here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am coelacanth:

this is Hot!
Avatar 2:49am BadGuyZero:

UPDATE: Fred Cole is conscious and in stable condition.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52am coelacanth:

is this Sacri Monti (actually) new?- or another reissue. it sound more current.

what happened to Fred Cole?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am Ken From Hyde Park:

@BGZ - That's good to hear. Hope he makes a full recovery.
Avatar 2:54am Joe B:

wow, killer set!
Avatar 2:55am BadGuyZero:

@coelacanth: He collapsed onstage during Dead Moon's set at Bumbershoot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am coelacanth:

oh shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am cory:

i came here to tell you guys something really important about the universe and stuff. but, i totally forgot what it was. digging the tune btw.
