Moral of the story: Pastries taste better when you imagine they are from somewhere else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am
Gary:

Forgive me for dorking out, but: "In Danish, Norwegian and Swedish, the term for Danish pastry is wienerbrød/wienerbröd, "Viennese bread".[10] The same etymology is also the origin of the Finnish viineri. Danish pastry is referred to as facturas in some Spanish speaking countries. In Vienna, the Danish pastry, referring to Denmark and Copenhagen, is called Kopenhagener Plunder or Dänischer Plunder" See: en.wikipedia.org...

Always good to see some Lehrer love.

I loved, and memorized, a bunch of Tom Lehrer songs as a little kid, without entirely understanding what they were about. Details fell into place gradually, over the course of decades, in little aha! moments as I ran across references to the ancient political history lampooned in those songs I could still play back in my memory, or sometimes just eventually learned what a word meant.

@Jeff: A freshman year HS teacher of mine once idly said, "We will all go together when we go." When I rejoined, "Every Hottentot and every Eskimo," I thought he was gonna shit.

That bit of the Tarzan yell at the beginning of Rockin in the Jungle makes me wonder anew about whether Johnny Weissmuller was actually doing the yell himself. Reports vary.
