Good rainy morning Jeffs and D:O folks

Jeff Golick:

Morning, gents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am
listener james from westwood:

I'm looking forward to October, and not to an imminent repeat of Hurricane Sandy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am
Jeff Golick:

That'd be a good one to miss, @ljfw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am
listener james from westwood:

Not that I want anywhere else to get the hit instead. Hoping it somehow curves out and bugs the Flying Dutchman or something.

Welcome, @Revolution Rabbit!

WFMU is streaming iive at The Flat's BKSpeed Coffee her in Williamsburg, Brooklyn folks! Mention the year Ken was born to get a quarter off ANY drink or breakfast burrito!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am
Jeff Golick:

Much as I enjoy the thought of Derek Bailey serenading morning coffee drinkers, I think you may have wandered onto the wrong playlist, @Jeezy? Glad to hear FMU is in such good company, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am
Jeff Golick:

This set is why Doug in his infinite wisdom gave D:O Radio the morning drive time slot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am
listener james from westwood:

I'd love for this to be my drive time music, NYC-market radio being what it is, with one of various incarnations of Jack-Mack and Chucklefuck in the Morning on most stations 'round here.

Hi, Jeff G. and other Jeffs and non-Jeffs around

woo hoo, no one in the office today so for once I get to listen to DO: radio live! I did miss the first 45 minutes since I was bailing out water pouring in from the old walled off back door here in the office, but I'm here now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am
listener james from westwood:

Yikes, hyde, that's never fun!! We had regular floods at one office where I worked, either through the roof or from the poorly drained swamp surrounding our building, so I fully sympathize.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am
listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: Yes!! I couldn't remember his sidekick, otherwise I'd have gone with Pawnee's favorite morning team.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am
Jeff Golick:

Greetings to @doca and @hyde!
Sorry to hear about your water situation, @hyde. Maybe I should play something from Song of the Bailing Man later...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am
Jeff Golick:

@duke: couldn't agree more re that Chicago Underground Duo song. A recent discovery.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:56am
doctorjazz:

Hi all, just got in to the office, digging the out sounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am
Jeff Golick:

C'mon in and grab a cup, @doctorjazz.
Avatar 🥁 9:57am
hyde:

the office here is built into an old quarry, so I guess periodically when it rains like it did last night. it just floods some when the capillaries get filled up with water. Should be OK as long as it doesn't monsoon again today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am
Jeff Golick:

@ljfw: Crazy Ira and the Douche, forever. Doesn't it turn out that The Douche is actually pretty smart or something?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:03am
doctorjazz:

Man, we're really GOING OUT! (as is everyone who walks into my office...hmmm, not such a bad thing...). Nothing like free violin music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am
Jeff Golick:

It does keep the riff-raff out.
Avatar 🥁 10:10am
hyde:

ha, that reminds me of my college dorm days. there were thse guys on our floor that we called "the idiots" who would always hang around our room until we discovered that a little "idiot repellent" aka free jazz (usually the Art Ensemble) would always drive them right out immediately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am
listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: There is some sort of Douche twist, of the sort P&R is good for re: its supporting characters. Not having regular TV, I do need to get my ass to the library and pick up the last 2 seasons; work and life went pear shaped around when they were broadcast and I got off track.

Hello Jeff(s), here you are in for some stormy weather. All back to Doug's then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am

How do, Brian in UK! I'll bring cups.
Avatar 10:24am
Jesse K:

I love the sound of Karen Borca in the morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am
Jeff Golick:

@ljfw: I have a habit of not finishing series; I just can't face the end. I gave up on the last season of P&R, even as my family plowed through it all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am
Jeff Golick:

@Jesse! [bassoon pun here]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am
Jeff Golick:

More Borca very (bas)soon, actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am
listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: Word. I finished Mad Men and Breaking Bad in real time, b/c I wanted to see how the protagonists would end up. I wasn't in the best of space to say good-bye to Leslie Knope.

Just three young turks throwing down in 1962 Copenhagen.

'58-'63 was some solid sounds. Especially those trio/quartets.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:52am
Brian in UK:

Coltrane has a tasty one in live in Copenhagen in '62 with Tyner, Garrison & Jones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am
Jeff Golick:

Sorry for the Borca tease; coulda sworn she was on more of that cut (which continues onto the next side of the LP).
Avatar 🥁 10:53am

I clearly need more Jimmy Lyons records
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am

@Brian: one also thinks of the Guiffre trios; Bill Evans trios; etc etc etc.

I blame Doug, @hyde.

Seeing the Mary Halvorson reminds me of the Firehouse 5 + 2. Were they Disney employees? This could be my overworked imagination.

@Jeff Doug can be blamed for so many good things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am

Malaclypse, eh? Discordians sneaking into the playlist?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am

@Brian: I am at a total loss.

@hyde: truer words...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am

And there's my answer!

@ljfw: The Malaclypse crew is a known commodity by you?

Nope, just the Principia Discordia. But happy to know this crew now!
