Favoriting Seven Second Delay with Andy and Ken: Playlist from October 7, 2015 Favoriting

-жеи's avatar View -жеи's profile Favoriting

The program formerly known as Dinner at Andy's, The Fuzzy Glove Hour, Whores, and The Happiness Hut. Ken and Andy, also known as The Enema Boys, further lower WFMU's already abysmal standards on a weekly basis. Stunt radio which subjects the radio audience to concepts and topics which mature adults should not have to endure. Find the fatal flaw. (Visit homepage.)

I agree with Andy. It sounds like a rerun.
  6:05pm
Listener Robert:

The Happiness Hut, isn't it?
Avatar 6:07pm
steve:

i wonder if Andy's ever had a regular job
  6:10pm
Luke:

Can we get a secret word tonight?
  6:11pm
Listener Robert:

Luke, what was really great was getting a secret word on the secret show itself. It's compound interest!
  6:14pm
Fredericks:

Turn buttons? What does Ken do with the knobs?
Avatar 6:15pm
Danne D:

I gotta tell ya - insurance isn't as exciting as it sounds.
  6:17pm

Andy, you should wear one of those "Where's my $2?" shirts in Ken's presence.

This is clearly much easier than just doing the show.

So has anyone else figured out that by the time they tell the taskers what to do the show will be over and nobody will get to go home early?
  6:28pm
Nick the Bard:

well, you don't know what's on the other end of the phone, so maybe it's Stone Cold Steve austin calling in too.

Where are Ken and Andy going?

Peter Martynovych:

We can hear the call screener.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Asheville Jon:

TURN UP THE CALLER VOLUME
  6:42pm
Listener Robert:

I think we're supposed to hear the screener (Mathew?) to get the full experience of all the subs operating.
Avatar 6:43pm

Andy is off to the masturbatorium. Ken is working as a waitress in a cocktail bar.

Michele, are you afraid for your job now?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I'd say these subs are pretty close to the quality of a typical 7SD program. Good work!
Avatar 6:52pm
Danne D:

Hi Michele :)
  6:52pm
Listener Robert:

Wow, credits for the volunteers; that's actually an improvement over the usual shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Peter Martynovych: For corn's sake, these people have never been on the air before! Cut them some slack!
  6:53pm
JakeGould:

@Gaylord: Yes, for the corn. Think about the corn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm

Yeah, I think they are doing really well for being thrown into it

Or take a break and come back when the regular hosts do their typical poor engineering job.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

They're hitting their stride now!
  6:55pm
Listener Robert:

This is too good. Next week is Ken going to reveal these people have actually been volunteers at WFMU for years?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm
Asheville Jon:

they didn't give out a secret word
  6:56pm
Listener Robert:

Jon, don't you think they're maintaining the suspense the way Ken does?

Old Dave:

Obviously, this is the better new show Chris T, FRANGRY and ken have been hoping to foist over on us.
Uhh. Well, me no like. So cool that they are self-declared awesome. Funded by family $$. AWESome!
Avatar 6:58pm
Danne D:

Should I tell 'em the letters are all bolded messed up on their website?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm
Asheville Jon:

well Robert, not so sure about that.
  6:58pm
JakeGould:

What is that crap they need to say? Yes!
Avatar 6:58pm
Danne D:

Great job Matthew and company :)
Make sure they do the legal station ID - it's up on the wall across from them :)
Avatar 6:59pm
steve:

she just called the station WFAN?
Avatar 6:59pm
Danne D:

WFAN? lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm
Mutant:

Close enough
  7:00pm
Sam:

Wow. Best show ever!
  7:00pm
Listener Robert:

They slipped in the secret word very nonchalantly, with enough ambiguity to make it a challenge to the listener to identify, eliminating the listeners who lack total loyalty.
  7:01pm
Sam:

All of that sounded way too polished. Was this all a hoax?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm
Asheville Jon:

yes. much better than the ragular hosts
  7:01pm
Listener Robert:

Now see, this is where we could have a serious discussion about the whole ethos & esthetics of radio.
  7:02pm
Listener Robert:

Until the "WFAN" part, I thought maybe it was a hoax, but they wouldn't have such an egregious & fine-risking error.
  7:05pm
Sam:

Yeah.... in any case Ken should give them a permanent show.
  7:05pm
Listener Robert:

Of course given their setup, we were bound to be impressed by the $30/hr. help favorably compared to the usual on-mic volunteers. But would they really get an audience & keep it every week even if they got $30/hr. to keep it up? There's something else about the program concepts & feeling the volunteers bring.
  7:07pm
Sam:

But they were total naturals. And they fit right in with the fmu style.
  7:07pm
Listener Robert:

Ken probably didn't tell them how to switch the comment & playlist page into archive mode, nor how to archive the audio.
  7:10pm
Listener Robert:

That's what made it sound like a hoax: their being such naturals. And yet, there's at least one program on WFMU that's staffed with naturals that I can't stand. I can stand them, but the program concept as they execute it is awful. So being naturals & flowing easily is ony a small part of it.
  7:11pm
Listener Robert:

Take someone like Gaylord Fields. He's a total UN-natural on-mic, yet he's lovable. Same w Frank O'Toole.
  7:11pm
Old Dave:

I am up for said discussion, Robert. But that entails delving into my dj past on college stations.Nothing is wrong with the most feeble attempts of a volunteer. IF you are saying they get paid to spit out crap on FMU, well, that is wrong.
  7:13pm
Listener Robert:

Who's getting paid to spit out crap on WFMU?
  7:22pm
Listener Robert:

The point is that smoothness & even a good voice is only a relatively small factor. The main thing seems to be enthusiasm. In the case of the DJs, they really enjoy sharing the music they like. They may also DJ other venues where they don't get a chance to talk to the audience, so this is their chance to talk about it. In the case of the talk shows, they're enthusiastic about what they have to say, even if they're kvetching as Chris T. often does. I listened to his recording from the hosp. recently that was all about kvetching, & it was compelling.
  7:23pm
Old Dave:

$30/hr to whom? I am unclear.
  7:24pm
Listener Robert:

The Task Rabbits were said to be getting $30/hr.
  7:26pm
Listener Robert:

Andy B. has one of the toughest roles. He plays a character who's all about LACK of enthusiasm for the show, the station, etc. Of course he actually loves it.
  7:39pm
Listener Robert:

So, Old Dave, how about delving into your past as DJ?
Avatar 4:32pm
deranged penguin:

Show handed over to temps. haha Great idea
