They were welcome to it, but couldn't they at least have removed and left behind the ROIR "Fun Hunt" tape? I never did replace it.

I grew up on top 40 radio. Differences in styles in the late 70s was fascinating. I grew to like the Talking Head and The Clash, even though when I bought thier albums, I was looking for somrthing else. It was challenging and really fucking interesting. Having made the commitment to the vinyl, I'd listen to them all, even if I was lukewarm to the music.

After he left the room I remarked to one of my generational peers, "Isn't it ironic that this kid who never heard of the Voidoids is sporting a hairstyle that Richard Hell invented?"

Re Punk being like Blues - that is exactly what Iggy said about his earliest intentions too: he realized (in Detroit, that close to Chicago) that the Blues had been Mastered by venerable old African-Americans - & he'd need to find his own young White suburban version of it...a problem Beefheart & many others of course set about addressing...& Lennon of course remarking that Blues is - a Chair to *Sit In* - not a *design* for a better chair...

those times I met him in the 70's and 80's
when he was acting like a selfish junkie asshole. Unexpected pleasant surprise.
