I did, Ken. I finished episode 6 (the Nora-centric episode) on Monday night. I'm enjoying the show. It's just purposely not explaining a lot, and it's kind of frustrating, but I'm being patient.
V. pleasant surprise that Sex & Broadcasting is showing in Brighton (UK) next month, in spitting distance for me; did Vicki B have a hand in that? The new PLU film is also showing during the festival.
BEAVO, Ken also posts extra-intense gifs that would bog down the computers of the masses for the enjoyment of the people who check in early. They're usually pretty great.
The plague crept over our threshold, too. On the mend, but it started as a sore throat, cold, chills, sweating, and now it is just leaving me with a raspy voice. Ken, it is good of you to venture out to entertain us!
I came in sick as a dog for one reason folks: to make 100% on the silent marathon, something i have NEVER done. Help me do it! Make a pledge up there to the left.
Fuller explanation: A few yrs. ago as an experiment, Ken started starting this playlist a little early, maybe by half an hour, to take requests. That seemed to work.
There'd been times during the show when some of the bigger animated GIF files in the playlist frame were crashing it as HIS end, causing him to have to restart it with a substitute graphic. So Ken saved up 1 or 2 of those to post pre-show, with a SCHEDULED restart with the show itself.
That worked so well, Ken started starting the page from home at about 6 AM, adding more GIFs (to near capacity) before he got into the office, still soliciting requests.
My friends Ralph & Kathy participate in fundraisers for BARKS. I'd no idea that was legit until you mentioned it now, Labradoer. I'd thought maybe Kathy & Ralph had made it up.
After they moved to Hampton Twp. & the last of their shitzus died, Kathy slowly turned their home into an animal shelter of sorts. They got up to 20 cats at peak, straining the limits of my antihistamine.
And my payment (dedicated to here) for the surveys I'm a panelist on came thru this AM. Do I pledge it toward Ken's goal? Hard not to when he's so sick. OTOH, the Old Codger nearly choked on his costume last night.
I was going to credit my pledge to Dave Mandl, but it's not enough to spread over 2 shows, and Ken's irresistible when suffering like this for his art.
Maurice LaMarche's appearance in that as Orson Welles is what confirmed my friend Davar's belief that the voice of the Brain on the mouse cartoons was a Welles caricature. I told Davar that the mouse sounded like Peter Lorre to me. On interview, LaMarche said he did the voice as a combination of Lorre & Welles.

Ass-kissing compliments dept:
1.) I, for one , found Tony Shaloub's appearance funny and entertaining. I hope he did too (one can always hope, right?)
2.) While the gifs on Ken's page are always enjoyable, may I opine that the selection this morning is particularly excellent?
Ken, you really are outdoing yourself with the GIFs today. And an amazing set for the spooky season!

Question: Did anyone here make it to the People Like Us event at Monty on Saturday? Comments?
I got blindsided by a rotten flu bug that kept me from both that event and the SUW meetup in Brooklyn (which I hear was a scorchingly good time.)
What's the general verdict on whether this Kosmischer Läufer record is a "hoax" or not. Seems like it must be to me, but I guess it has still not been revealed one way or the other?
@P-90: Yup, we are getting like a consistent rain today that only ends tomorrow afternoon. My sundries are fine. And I have a horses hit tech problem that I can occupy myself with. So hey!
the surname of the musician behind Kosmischer Läufer is "Zeichnete", which in return is a direct translation of one of the publishers surname: "Drew".
"Zeichnete" would be a very unusual German surname.
If you like Kosmischer Laeufer (and they are on Bandcamp...) you may also like to listen to the excellent Bedroom Cassette Masters compilations of 80s-90s synth music made with 4-tracks and other prosumer equipment and distributed on cassette: bedroomcassettemasters.bandcamp.com
Sick demon voice Ken sounds exactly like healthy demon voice Ken. If Ken had embraced the halloween theme and gone demon voice all day, we never would've known he was sick.
He also wouldn't be able to garner sympathy pledges, so... being sick worked out in the end.
Yeah, I had read that. Apparently the record label said "Well, of course that is not his real name...", but I hadn't heard the bit about the publisher's surname being "Drew" - seems to be the final nail in the coffin

@pocketvito: You stand up at the table, and tell your opponent… “I know what life is and it’s not staring at some black and white board moving pieces around all day. Bye!” and walk away.
@pocketvito: No disrespect to anyone who likes to play chess—even kids—but I have found that adults that are still into chess (like really into it) are as worse or as bad as sports fans go as far as seeing all of life as an endless, polarized conflict. I mean Bobby Fischer was a lunatic.
