Guess what was the highlight for me on Saturday night, watching the Village Halloween parade in NYC? It was when the Yips passed by! I'll give second place to the dude dressed up as a flasher. Third place goes to the 150 people dancing in unison to "Thriller."

thanks for a great show this morning! btw the original of "i love how you love me" had bagpipes too...so the choice of the addition wasn't as creative as you might think, but it's still such a spectacular song.

You know what, ever time I write something on the comments page and it appears on screen traveling thousands of virtual miles for people all over the world to potentially read. It never ceases to amaze me. That seems like a good reason to PLEDGE to your favourite radio station 'cause it must be if you are right here, right now. DO IT.
  10:36am P-90:

@Brian in UK: Joe's FM signal from New Jersey could bounce off the ionosphere and interact with the weather where you are. So anything's possible. On the other hand, it's still kind of gray and bleak outside here in the station's own neighborhood.
  10:37am Brendan:

I bet Yvonne Fair's producer never said to her, 'once more, with feeling'
Avatar 10:37am Brian in UK:

@P-90 it was the hottest November day on record here yesterday. Wacko.
  10:39am P-90:

btw, Brian in UK, will you be visiting the Colonies any time soon?

  10:46am P-90:

Global warming effects are definitely apparent in the Northeastern US. "Normally" we would have had a frost or two by now, maybe even a winter storm or two. But the leaves on the trees, which used to change and fall in Sept-Oct, are still lazily changing in itty bitty increments in Central Park.
  10:47am wildneil:

A guy named Costa used to cut my hair...and he also played the violin!

A record store is a terrible thing to waste.
Avatar 11:10am Joe McG:

I love record store stories. Here's one: Josh and I went record shopping after our interview was done. When we went in the shop, what was playing on the store PA? Ron Davies! No joke.

that wuz lovely & so is this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Mike East:

that Ron Davies song was beautiful
  11:13am Brendan:

@Joe, Nice interview/tracks .My formative years' record store was called Joe's Record Paradise! Happy to say they are still afloat. Your show is my virtual Joe's record paradise!
Avatar 11:15am Joe McG:

@Brendan: What a great name for a record shop! Maybe I finally have a new name for this show. (My kidhood shop was called Bugsy's Hop!)
  11:20am P-90:

Nice. Josh Rosenthal is good company.
Avatar 11:21am holland oats:

Rockit Records (Saugus, MA) - run at least in part by some great WLYN (later WFNX) DJs
  11:23am Dean:

Buddy of mine owned a record store in Southern California, Al's Records. His name is in fact Al, and his niche was '70s progressive rock. The store's motto: "Selling Music by the Pound."
Avatar 11:23am Joe McG:

So many great record stores are gone, but so many good ones are still around...and new ones are opening these days, which is amazing.
Avatar 11:31am Brian in UK:

There used to be a greengrocers in the neighbourhood and the owners son had a record shop in the back. Used to spend time there chewing the fat. He was a jazz buff. Stanley Turrentine was his man. So you could buy your fruit and veg and cop a record at the same time. Not sure if it even had a name.
  11:33am wildneil:

Pier Platters, Hoboken, RIP.
  11:33am wildneil:

Modern Records, from the 80's, Syracuse NY, lotsa bootlegs, RIP
  11:34am wildneil:

Pellet Records, Morristown, NJ...rip??
Avatar 11:35am Joe McG:

@wildneil: Never went to Pellet! If it still exists, let me know!
  11:35am Dean:

Beggars Banquet, '80s store in Anaheim, CA, infamous for its incredible stash of bootlegs, RIP a long time ago, due in part to a law suit brought by Bruce Springsteen's henchmen.
  11:37am wildneil:

Pellet was AWESOME!!!!!!! I'm in Buffalo, so a quick Yahoo interweb search says "Scottis is closed"....LOTSA bootlegs there also...wow....last time there mid to late 80's
  11:38am wildneil:

I found it by simply asking at the art store gallery "is there a record store in town"? They said it was upstairs and that was all I needed to hear!
  11:38am wildneil:

Upstairs but down the street that is...
Avatar 11:39am Brian in UK:

Did The Searchers record Switchbord Susan? Or is this another Marie Celeste?
  11:40am Dean:

Graham Parker is just a little openly resentful that his career didn't span the trajectory of, say, Nick Lowe. He jokes about it during live shows.
Avatar 11:41am Joe McG:

@Brian: Yes, they did!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am ChrisB.:

  11:42am wildneil:

Desert Shore, Syracuse NY, RIP..it , too , was upstairs...and also dealt in comics for awhile...
  11:43am wildneil:

Record Theatre in Buffalo, NY is pretty awesome!
  11:44am Dean:

@ChrisB: RTC rings a bell, but I confess I don't think I ever made it there, alas. The typical record crawl aimed north into the Valley (Moby Disc in Van Nuys), perhaps down 405 (Zed Records in Long Beach). Beggars Banquet was special, owing to the bootlegs and to its proximity to Anaheim's Tower Records.
