Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm

The beauty of that Cascades song is that the melody descends like rain.

At the time of its release. the oh-so-'80s Steve Lillywhite production on Field Day bugged me nearly as much as it did MHC, but it's grown on me, unlike most other '80s-sounding production.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Amanda:

Y'all are too nice. Thank you for joining me today! @Gaylord -- I still can't super enjoy Field Day in its entirety but individual tracks are fun to listen to.

FYI everybody, the cat's name is unknown but the raccoon's name is "Banjo"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Amanda: If you don't already have it, try to find the EP of "de-mixes" that MHC issued after all the criticism of Field Day's overly boomy sound (some of that emanating from him).

I really want to hear Dick Johnson by Pussy Galore all of a sudden.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Amanda:

Ahhh, segue endorsement! Thank you, Matt.

@johnk77, thanks for that... I usually just fake that pronunciation so it sounds like it could be anything.

It's been how long since you have played My Dick? Damn, I can't last that long without playing My Dick.

Because I am a child, I am laughing hysterically at my desk.

Yay for Skeeter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm

Sean, that's fine but playing My Dick at your desk isn't recommended.

Okasa:

Yeah, I started listening to Joe's Garage in high school, and found it "hi-larious". But as I grew, I found myself listening to more and more Zappa. He was a such a genius, and it is sad that he is largely remembered for the Valley Girl song…

@Okasa - I miss Frank, too. Some years ago, before I found WFMU, a station here played a couple hours of Zappa for whatever reason. When they returned to their normal programming, I thought "Yeesh, what's this junk? It's so dull."

Except for "Old Brown Shoes Don't Make It" and Cruisin' with Ruben & the Jets, I never got into Zappa. However, visiting a friend in CT every Memorial Day I was always treated to a public support radio station annual tribute to FZ. An utter joy.
