Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from January 1, 2016 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Ha! Ever read an e-mail for the second time a week later and realize you don't have to work on New Year's Day because the client wants something "the week of Jan 4" instead of Monday morning? That just happened. See ya!

what Fred said.
the delay-ed guitar murmurs bring the mellower early AshRaTempel to mind.

this is the first FMU dose I've had since before xmas break; easing back to reality in style.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
George of Troy:

Last year I was lucky enough to track down a copy of the massive 12 CD Bayle box that INA-GRM released a while back. It's really an amazing selection of music.
Avatar 1:49pm
Bryce:

oh, cool! brian turner, god bless him, somehow managed to snarf a copy for the fmu library. ferrari sure left behind a body of work. bless him too.

that and the giant parmegiani box set will keep me going for a while after the gulf stream reverses and society collapses.

Avatar 1:54pm

What did you read, @Guido? And BTW, happy new year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm

Éphémère sounds like a Riley/Frippertronics-style Tape-/Loop-construction.
Avatar 1:55pm
Bryce:

hey steve, when you're finished with musimathics....

www.amazon.com...

(the reviews, lol)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
fred:

@steve: Two Dust To Digital releases came with enlightening books: The Ola Belle Reed one and Folksongs of Another America. The music is amazing too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm
Guido from Cologne:

Well, among the English language books was Janis Ian's auto-biograph, which really reads like a novel. I'm fan of just her "teenage"/60ies albums. But I "swallowed" the book.
Avatar 1:58pm
doca:

I've read David Grubbs' "Records ruin the landscape", about recording and the avant-garde scene in the 60s. Great book. He writes as good as he plays and composes.
  1:59pm
steve:

hahaha "The book as a whole basically makes no sense"

Fred @1:50 -- agreed profoundly.
That, and much coffee. Not unlike that photo over there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Guido from Cologne:

Two books from the " Labels Unlimited" series:
Rough Trade and Immediate.
Both great, with a lot of history I didn't know.
the Immediate in particular was enlightening. Great storytelling.

Be sure to make that Amazon link benefit WFMU: smile.amazon.com...

@RTD: That picture looks like the kind of coffee cup I should have at work, but my desk is too small. I'm not a doctor, and they take these things seriously here

Me LOVE sinister world-conquering organizations!
Avatar 2:10pm

to be clear, auricle communications is a shell corporation operated by the pantagenet bloodline
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Ike:

Well, duh
  2:16pm
P-90:

You mean "Plantagenet", right? Or is there another ruthless dynasty with almost the same name?
Also: loving this Luc, those 12-string guitar textures were like the icing on the sonic cake. This feedbacky part must be the cherry.
Avatar 2:20pm

sorry, i get a little nervous mentioning auricle communications.

hey, linda, thanks! happy new year :)

tootb: not sure if there's a mirror of the web 1.7 home page! so far, tho, it's pretty much the same otherwise
Avatar 2:43pm

oh wow, mr. McC has a website? i actually have The Myth of Invariance, and....as it says on the tin, it's indeed like trying to push your keys & wallet into the middle of a granite boulder
  2:44pm
totally out of the blue:

@Bryce: sometimes websites leave a functioning old version intact somewhere, but I guess WFMU does not. I'm asking because I find it hard to navigate, I tend to safari hunt the hamburger menus for the links I seek, and the current playlist link's JS is broken it does nothing, even tho I have JS activated.
  2:45pm
totally out of the blue:

oh, I guess I have to deactivate my popup blocker. seriously? popups?
  2:47pm
totally out of the blue:

ah, no it's not a popup, sorry. but I thought the playlist reloads in the background when I click PLAYLIST & COMMENTS. It was auto-reload, that got me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
fred:

@tootb: I think Ken would be very receptive to any comments about what you could do and no longer can on the station's site. Bugs happen, tell him and chances are this will get fixed
  2:50pm
totally out of the blue:

really? does the bad experience of one downer matter? I doubt it...
Avatar 2:53pm
Bryce:

ahhhh, the autoreload....

but yeah! there definitely are plennnnty of kinks still being worked out. it's absolutely a work in progress.

feedback does get listened to! ain't exactly clearchannel around here :)
  2:56pm
totally out of the blue:

thanks for listening.
for what it's worth, I find it extremely hard to navigate. it could be autism on my part that causes me to fail to get around on the main page or it really is bloated and cluttered now. you pick.
Avatar 2:58pm
Bryce:

happy new year, all! see you next week......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm

@tootb: if there's a better way, he'll tell you. If there isn't, he'll make sure there's one soon. Either way, I think he'll welcome your feedback

Thanks and Happy 2016, Bryce
