Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from January 5, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

And the dominant landmark in Albany is the so-called Albany Hill, in Spanish el cerrito, which happens to be the name of the town directly to the north, famous for spawning CCR, maybe Metallica, Green Day?
  3:54pm
Dean:

Moreover, El Cerrito is where Irene Trudel's father-in-law, Orrin Keepnews, lived until his unfortunate demise not too long ago.

Hey Brian! Didn't you go to New Zealand last year? I'm headed there in a couple weeks and wanted to know if you met up with any old school Flying Nun or Xpressway folks? I'm mostly there to hike but would love to connect with bands that I've loved for so many years.
Avatar 5:20pm
Brian Turner:

Hi Go2Kay - I was there in 2013 happy to give you tips if you want to email me bt@wfmu.org. I ran into some, but they're all scattered around. When i was there Sandra Bell played out, and oddly enough Peter Jefferies did his first show in 11 years opening for Amanda Palmer in Auckland. Had a drink with Bruce Russell and breakfast with Roger Shepard and met a 3D at a show but I think that was all my celebrity spotting for that trip... recommend South Island for yr hikes. Wanna go back badly!
Avatar 5:28pm
go2kay:

Thanks Brian. I will email you. I'm a friend of Tom Lax and was going to reach out to him too. And I will be on both south and north islands. Doing the Milford Track on the south and a hike in Tongariro National Park in the north. I thought of Peter Jefferies too. I met him in the early 90s a couple of times and always had a great time talking to him but he lives in the one area I am not going to. Ok more to come via email. thanks again.
