Henry Cow also very popular in Italy (well, at least relative to other countries!). When they did the reunion shows for Lindsay Cooper recently, there were two in England and one there.

That may have been the concert they did in Rome with Wyatt in '75. One of his last live appearances. I'd also love a copy of that poster!

Yeah, 1978 is much more likely. I discovered HC around 1977 or so, when I was in high school. They were my favorite band for a while there.

There was a cheerful Anglo-American student punk band called "Headcleaner" here in Canterbury when I was at university in the late 80s. They released an eponymous tape, to sow confusion in purchasers' cassette shelves (remember those?).

There was in Southern California an AM Christian talk show hosted by a Brother Paul very similar to these clips. I listened to it religiously, and I miss it. The theme song was Loggins & Messina's "Peace of Mind."

Seeing "short-term memory" and heads needing cleaning reminds me of those tape drives some computers of the day still used for loading programs into RAM. The speed of that process is one of the reasons I check myself when, say, a file takes a "long" time to download.

only mystery with proof of Utah is why all their stuff hasn't been reissued. Crazy talented guys. I think some of them had barely gotten out of high school when their first record came out. I interviewed them and saw them once. They were incredibly fun and nice and a great live act.

Last night my kids set up their train set, a tiny oval layout, and let it run for something like fifteen minutes. I pulled out Chris Watson's "El Tren Fantasma" to play along with it. The mix was great.

Tony, they started hardcore, but moved more to a Birthday-Party-like noisy rock 'n' roll. Also, their hardcore has some of the best, pure smart crazy noisy guitar riffs in it.
