Spoilers: there is a fake Google and a fake YouTube in tonight's episode!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Ike:

I just watched it. It was terrible. I won't spoil, but it's almost un-spoil-able since it was like Chris Carter cut up a bunch of scripts from the first 9 seasons of mythology episodes, threw them up in the air, and taped them together randomly. I'm sorry, I'll stop now. Looking fwd to MOTWs.

I was going to pass along an X file spoiler but you have done such a great show I just can't
Avatar 1:09am BadGuyZero:

You could do play-by-play of badminton and/or croquet games that appear in movies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am Matt from Springfield:

Sportsy Therese! Yay! :D

Don't worry, it's not a "sports talk" show, it's a "sportsY" talk show!
Whether you know a lot, a little, or just loathe sports, it's a good time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am coelacanth:

so you know nothing about sports... a negligible detail to do that show!
  1:10am P-90:

Sounds like Dr. Suess: "....but GPS made a terrible mess, and sent me into a park, where it was scary and dark..."
Avatar 1:11am BadGuyZero:

You could play sports-themed records for an hour.

haha nice P-90!

@P-90: Or Morrissey lyrics.
Avatar 1:15am BadGuyZero:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am Matt from Springfield:

What does this guy think Therese is, an Idiot Assistance Service??!
On the other hand, be nice to him - I'd hate to have dead air on ;)
  1:38am KP:

  1:39am P-90:

@BGZ: I think a reliqble source once told me that members of Journey had been called in to work on what eventually became the (original) Max Rebo song.
Avatar 1:40am BadGuyZero:

@P-90: That's a bit frightening.
Avatar 1:42am JakeGould:

Be careful opening doors to people on cold post-winter storm days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42am Matt from Springfield:

Woooooooo! KC! 21st Century Schizoid Man! :D
  1:43am P-90:

C R I M S O N !
  1:43am rw:

I had to look up Max Rebo. It's possible I haven't seen that movie.

And... in agreement with Matt and P-90!!!
  1:44am P-90:

Nice long song, she'll have time to go let whats-his-name in...
Avatar 1:46am JakeGould:

One sign George Lucas is insane: When he redid the original “Star Wars” films, he said to himself, “Self! This horrible blues band that nobody likes… We need to improve that, create a new song and even stretch it out LONGER! Now that gets asses in seats!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48am coelacanth:

hey rw!

...and- what rw said about what Matt & P-90 said!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50am Ike:

45 at 33?
Avatar 1:51am BadGuyZero:

I wonder how much George Lucas would have been able to tinker with "Return Of The Jedi" had David Lynch directed it like he wanted.
  1:51am rw:

Jake, I'm not such an expert on Star Wars but do you think the second band could have been a sort of joke reference to the goofiness of the first band? The clip I just watched seemed pretty silly. That's how I took it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am Matt from Springfield:

What coela said...aw, never mind!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am coelacanth:

nothing has ever been said that tempted me to lose my star wars virginity...now here's one more clasp on that chastity belt.
Avatar 1:52am BadGuyZero:

But have you seen "Octopussy?"
  1:53am rw:

coelacanth, you've never seen any of 'em? Impressive.
Avatar 1:54am BadGuyZero:

I hope Therese makes it back in time to do the legal ID.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am Matt from Springfield:

Baroness - new to me, and quite nice...
Avatar 1:56am JakeGould:

To me the way “Star Wars” is understandable is this: The first 1977 film was a surprise hit and a decent standalone film. Then the second film in 1980 (“The Empire Strikes Back”) was an unexpected hit… And—this is key—that film was far more deep and had character depth the first film never really had. A truly adult film that kids could enjoy… Then “Return of the Jedi” turned into a bunch of teddy bears and pandering directly to kids. And everything after those films—prequels and the new sequel—are just pandering more and more to kids.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57am coelacanth:

rw i just wasn't interested in it as a child; and without that foundation there's no reason to waste my time on it as an adult.
...i'd go see a planet of the apes movie though!
Avatar 1:57am KP:

she's back guys Don't worry!
Avatar 2:00am BadGuyZero:

Clap your hands, everyone! Therese is back!
Avatar 2:00am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Anything past the first “Planet of the Apes” is just… Bleagh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01am coelacanth:

i'm sure i've heard baroness, but i thought it was all female....maybe i haven't and i (reasonably enough?) assumed that!
Avatar 2:03am BadGuyZero:

I hope the hot spots and the cool sports are playing nice 'cause you don't need a tornado starting up in the studio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03am coelacanth:

Jake that's a bummer...but i suppose if i haven't seen any of them since "conquest of..." then i probably wasn't really going to see one after all!
Avatar 2:03am JakeGould:

Sounds like the studio is a McDLT: The hot side stays hot and the cool side stays cool.
Avatar 2:05am BadGuyZero:

I've never had a McDLT. Or a McRib.
Avatar 2:06am KP:

What the world really needs is a good "Man from Uncle" film.
Avatar 2:06am BadGuyZero:

But I have seen "Octopussy."
Avatar 2:07am BadGuyZero:

And "Moonraker."
Avatar 2:07am JakeGould:

@BadGuyZero: You know what a McDLT was? A McDonalds version of the way you get burgers from a diner: Opened up with one side that has the hot stuff on 1/2 of the bun and the other that has the cold stuff (lettuce, tomatoes and onions) on the other 1/2 of the bun. But it was McDonalds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08am coelacanth:

Jake i just looked and there was only one after "conquest..." (?) -i've only seen that and the first one and i was really young (saw conquest of in the theatre the first time around),but i liked both of them.
Avatar 2:08am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Age difference. I mainly saw those films on TV and the first one is the only one I cared about. I’m not into sequel sagas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09am coelacanth:

i saw octopussy in the 80s on tv. it just blends in with other bond films i my head.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15am coelacanth:

Jake that's part of it for sure; and i'm not into milked formulas either...but i'm also not that into movies. i've always liked them, but they (and tv) were always (literally) overshadowed by music.
- i'd probably hate all those ape sequels, now that i think about it! the whole story was told in the first one.
Avatar 2:15am BadGuyZero:

@JakeGould: I vaguely remember seeing ads on TV for the McDLT. I wouldn't even be able to guess around what year it was.
Avatar 2:17am BadGuyZero:

Did you watch the "Planet Of The Apes" TV series?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am coelacanth:

haha- i never knew there was one until about 10 minutes ago! (or a "mcDLT, for that matter.)

...i do look out the windows of my cave sometimes though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23am coelacanth:

-so BGZ, you have a taste for bond movies? i haven't seen many, but i like the car chases in the old ones!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23am Matt from Springfield:

Brasil-rock! I always dig this, esp. with the touch of bossa nova influence here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am coelacanth:

different version?
Avatar 2:27am BadGuyZero:

I do like the Bond movies. I haven't seen "Spectre" yet. I don't even know if it's still playing in theaters. Some of those Roger Moore movies are lousy. But he was in my favorite Bond movie - "For Your Eyes Only" - so he's ok in my book solely because of that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28am Matt from Springfield:

I mean I always tend to like the stuff coming from Brazil, whether Os Mutantes, Seu Jorge, bossa nova or the other varied styles. I like that the last song was acoustic and had a touch of earlier, bossa nova influence in it. That's all :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am Matt from Springfield:

Burns Night?
Burns Night! It's tomorrow evening, Jan 25!
Avatar 2:35am JakeGould:

I only watched the “Planet of the Apes” TV series out of childhood boredom. But that said… Someone should reboot “Space: 1999” as “Space: 2999”
Avatar 2:36am BadGuyZero:

Maybe he's related to Montgomery Burns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37am coelacanth:

Matt my @2:25 was about the Dylan song! ...but i'm with you all the way. i like the music and the language.
- those 2,+ Tom Zé, Arnaldo Baptista, Caetano Veloso...they also mix up the styles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39am coelacanth:

...and - what KP said about 1/2 an hour ago!
Avatar 2:39am JakeGould:

Hey! The McDLT might have killed the planet but it tasted great! www.youtube.com...
Avatar 2:41am BadGuyZero:

Murder a cow AND the planet. It's a double-murder with cheese!
Avatar 2:41am BadGuyZero:

Making a double-murderer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42am Matt from Springfield:

Killing Us Softly With Their Supply Chain!

And it STILL doesn't solve the problem of unequal treatment of the bun halves! How come one must always stay hot and the other always cold? That's discrimination! Separate is NEVER equal!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am coelacanth:

okay,i will weigh-in...Fuck them!
...also, you ever try to get the assholes at dunkin donuts to put the coffee you're buying into your own travel cup? they act like you're trying to rob them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: And a triple murder of your own arteries, if you eat them enough!
Avatar 2:43am BadGuyZero:

I wanna know what they do to the Filet-O-Fish buns. 'Cause those are fluffy and steamy and dreamy.
Avatar 2:44am BadGuyZero:

@Matt: That is true.
Avatar 2:44am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Do you live in a college town where mugs slung from backpacks (like Jansport and Eastpack) are a thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45am Matt from Springfield:

Beatlesque production in here, NICE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46am coelacanth:

yes, but i was responsible enough to be carrying my own cup long before i lived here,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46am coelacanth:

(i don't know about those brand names though!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48am Matt from Springfield:

@coela: Only the 2 biggest school backpack brands in the U.S.!
I have used both in my K-12-university years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50am Matt from Springfield:

And @coela 2:37 - dez-quatro! 10-4, message received buddy! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50am coelacanth:

...i also don't drink coffee from dd. i stopped there as a favor to my sister. she said she gets the same nastiness at starbucks when she brings her own cup.
Avatar 2:51am JakeGould:

@MattfromSpringfield: Yeah! Exactly! Levis vs. Lee to Eastpack vs. Jansport.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am Matt from Springfield:

@Jake: And for that matter, Oreo vs. Hydrox.
I'm curious about trying them head to head to compare, thanks to Dave Hill board discussions..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am coelacanth:

i had an ll bean backpack once. it was $3. at salvation army and it held up for years. i have a Kelty now that i bought new. i'm not impressed.
...aren't jansports guaranteed for life or something?
Avatar 2:58am JakeGould:

@MattfromSpringfield: With this snowstorm, my snack options were limited. I almost bought a pack of Newman-Os “Mint” but then remembered that there is something weird about those cookies that give me an insane sugar high. Must use some weird “mint” goo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am coelacanth:

already?! Thank you Therese Great program!
ciao people.
Avatar 2:59am Joe B:

hey Therese, great show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Therese! Great tunes and company to keep in our blizzardness!
